they can all grate, slice, and shred... I'd suggest either a Kitchen Aid or a Cuisinart. My old KA burned up (hint: don't try to shred frozen parmesan cheese....) and I bought another KA. I couldn't bring myself to settle for a smaller bowl and more cost for the Cuisinart. I priced them all over, and the best deal I found was at Bed, Bath & Beyond using a "20% off one item" coupon.

Besides a FP, you need to get some of htose people staying w/ you EITHER cooking lessons OR CLEANING-UP lessons!!!!

    The Cuisinart original pictured here

is still the best product I know of on the market. It's also stinking expensive! But every other food processor I try breaks, performs poorly or or is poorly designed for all purposes. (We used to use the Cuisinart ones in a facility I worked in, and if they break you can often get a replacement part free.)

    So there's my opinion.

Its my understanding that Cuisinart is the best. I have this one http://www.hamiltonbeach.com/products/food-process... Its a Hamilton Beach and I like it. Ive had it for about 2 years now and it is starting to squeek like a bad bearring or something, but i ignore it.

My Kenwood is over 20 years old and still going strong.

They have some fabulous funky looking models out now.

If my "Nana" one expired I wouldn't hesitate to replace it with another Kenwood.

There are so many choices these days.

    Happy shopping/playing.
