Hate HAte HATe HATE FISH...?

What are some good fish recipes that aren't overly "fishy" tasting lol, that I can serve/introduce to the whole family who all hate fish...one recipe will do per answer. Thanks in advance!!!!

Update:

Thanks for all the input so far...it's all good. I'm trying to serve healthier food at dinner and I don't want to give up on the"fish" thing YET. I'm just learning about fish now, from all of you. And don't worry nothing goes to waste...my parents love my cooking and love to get the "rejects"!!! lol

I've made this with shrimp or chicken or no meat at all. This recipe is very adaptable. Another sauce can be substituted, such stir fry sauce in a bottle

    Shrimp Fried Rice Recipe

    2 tablespoons vegetable oil

8 large shrimp, peeled and deveined

    2 cloves garlic, finely chopped

    1/2 cup chopped onion

    1/2 cup diced carrots

    1 egg, lightly beaten

2 cups cooked white (or brown) rice

(May want to start with a tablespoon first)

    3 tablespoons soy sauce

    3 scallions, thinly sliced

In a large non-stick skillet or wok, heat oil over medium high heat.

Cook shrimp quickly until pink. Remove to board and chop coarsely. Discard shrimp tails.

Add garlic and onion to skillet and cook for 1 minute. Stir in carrots and cook for 2 minutes.

Add egg and rice and toss quickly to distribute egg.

Stir the rice for a few minutes (more or less depending on your taste) before adding the soy sauce. Stir in soy sauce.

    Toss in scallions and serve.

    BROILED TILAPIA PARMESAN

    INGREDIENTS

    1/2 cup Parmesan cheese

    1/4 cup butter, softened

    3 tablespoons mayonnaise

    2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

    1/4 teaspoon dried basil

    1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

    1/8 teaspoon onion powder

    1/8 teaspoon celery salt

    2 pounds tilapia fillets

    DIRECTIONS

Preheat your oven's broiler. Grease a broiling pan or line pan with aluminum foil.

In a small bowl, mix together the Parmesan cheese, butter, mayonnaise and lemon juice. Season with dried basil, pepper, onion powder and celery salt. Mix well and set aside.

Arrange fillets in a single layer on the prepared pan. Broil a few inches from the heat for 2 to 3 minutes. Flip the fillets over and broil for a couple more minutes. Remove the fillets from the oven and cover them with the Parmesan cheese mixture on the top side. Broil for 2 more minutes or until the topping is browned and fish flakes easily with a fork. Be careful not to over cook the fish.

It's great that you want your children to be able t make up their own mind about food so good on you! I think that boil in the bag should only really be given to adults or older children because you want to give your little ones all the vitamins they can possibly get. I don't think there's anyway to get rid of the smell when cooking fish so you may just have to put up with it :s You could try baking the fish in the oven by wrapping it in tin foil with a little seasoning that way it steams and cooks in it's own juices and nothing is lost. The best advice I can give regarding the smell is to try a good odour neutralising air freshener and to keep up the good work - your children will grow up eating a wide variety of foods and you will know that if they don't like something then it's down to their own dislikes and not yours :D

    3 tablespoons flour

    salt and pepper (to taste)

1 (16 ounce) package frozen sole or flounder fillets, thawed and cut in half

    paprika

    Directions

1 Cook butter, flour, hot sauce and spices in large bowl in microwave for 2 minutes, stirring once.

2 Add milk slowly, stir, then cook on high 2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute.

3 When sauce is thick& smooth add cheese and stir till melted.

4 Place spinach in 9" pie plate and stir in 1/2 C sauce.

    5 spread evenly on bottom.

6 Arrange fish over this, cover with wax paper and microwave on high 2 minutes.

If you all hate it that bad skip it.

If you think fish tastes fishy, you are buying it from the wrong source, as it should smell like sea water if it is ocean fish.

I suggest Haddock, Halibut, Rockfish or Cod. These are all mild tasting fish . Simply season them with garlic, lemon pepper and a bit of flour and fry in butter and vegetable oil.

4Real, if you and your family hate fish, don't serve it to them. Why waste good food when it will not be eaten?

If you want to try something out on them, get some calamari, remove the propulsion unit,(the hard thing) cut into strips about 1/2 inch, soak in buttermilk for half an hour, dredge in bread crumbs, and deep fry until lightly browned. Serve with salsa.

    Regards,

    Dan

    Fish & Chip

    Ingredients

    1# fish fillets, white cod*

    2 cups, flour

    1 egg

    5 oz. milk

5 oz. beer, good quality, flat

    1/2 to 1 tsp. salt

    vegetable oil or shortening

    malt vinegar

    Directions:

Mix flour and salt in bowl, make into a well. Mix milk with egg slowly. Add egg mix to center of well and beat until aerated. Set aside.

Start heating oil to 375F. Run fingers across fish fillets and remove any pin bones. Slice the fillets into 1" by 3" strips. When oil is up to temperature add beer to batter and mix in. Dip and coat fillets with batter** and place into oil. Fry to a light golden brown, turning once. Remove and place on paper towels to drain. To keep pieces hot, they can be placed in a 300F oven while the balance is frying.

*There are other cods, known as brown or red, do not use! The texture of meat and amount of natural oil doesn't give you the light flakiness desired.

**The batter will appear very thick and heavy, that's ok. As long as you keep your oil temp up, there will be no sponging.

Options: Try adding dry mustard, (Coleman's) or hot Hungarian paprika to flour mix. A bit of ground cayenne works too.

    Chips

Peel 5 med. Idaho potatoes, slice into 1/2" square strips by the length of the potato. Rinse in cold water to reduce starch. Leave in water until oil is 375F. Grab a large handful and pat dry with paper towel until fairly dry, reduces spattering. Place into hot oil and fry until golden brown. Do a handful a time, keeping cooked ones warm in the oven.

Assemble plate, sprinkle with a little salt and malt vinegar and enjoy.

    Please, "NO" ketchup.

    Voila!!!

    Enjoy!!!

I hate fish too but i will eat the English style frozen Highliner fillets because they are covered in so much batter that you taste that more than the fish.

Ironically i will not eat any other seafood (ie shrimp or calamari) no matter how battered it is!

I don't have a recipe but a lot of people who don't like fish replace the amount of fish with chicken.
