Project Help! 10 Points!?
Okay, so I'm doing a project for school. It has to center on one person (so not a group of people) who made an impact in history. I'd like to do Lewis Hines, the photographer who took pictures of child labor and helped to end it through his dramatic photographs, but it's already taken by another student. It can't be anyone common: no presidents, no well-known inventors or abolitionists, etc. It needs to be someone more unknown who had a big impact. Please leave as many answers as possible, I need all I can get. I've been brainstorming for hours but haven't come up with anything great, so good luck!!
Thank you!! =) Best answer gets 10 points. ♥
It doesn't have to be someone hugely famous, in fact it's probably better if they aren't. As long as they had a big impact in history. And my area is Kansas. =)

Do Mamie Phipps Clark!
She is not generally well-known; she's only well known to people interested in psychology/racial issues.
She and her husband did an experiment to prove segregation at the public schools with "African American" dolls and "White" dolls. They ultimately helped end racial segregation in public schools through the major court trial of Brown v. Board of Education.
It's really interesting, read the Wikipedia article (I know some people don't think Wikipedia is accurate but you can get a basic overview of what Mamie Clark did, then you can look up the details if you're going use her for your report!)

How can you do a report on someone who made an impact in history without them being well known? Anyone who has impacted history is well known. But I have a person who has not impacted history so much as impacted the present and his name is Keke Love and he is a radio D.J. in Boise, Idaho who went live on the the air for 175 hours which is 7 days without sleep and without stay awake aid to raise awareness of child abuse. You can contact him and learn about what he did this year at

Question for ya... Does it have a be a famous somebody, or just someone maybe locally that impacted your area?
I would choose Francis Galton. He had the first definitive study of fingerprints and developed a methodology of classifying them for filing. His work went on to describe the basic principles that form the present system of identification by fingerprints. Basically, he led the way to a new way to identifying criminals today. If you want, you can even add that his work paved the way for AFIS (automatic fingerprinting identification system).

Does it have to be positive impact? If not I would say Franz Von Papen because he was an integral part of Hitler getting the chancellorship, which effectively let him run amock! Von Papen out of selfish ambition tried to get himself the role by making deals with Hitler which didnt work out too well. If Von Papen wasn't part of the cabinet Hitler would have had a much harder time getting into power.

How about Witold Pilecki?
He gave evidence and reports to the British Allied forces from Auschwitz during WWII.

well it would be kind of creative or different to do somebody who had a negative impact on history. who says it has to be something good right? might get some more attention than the rest from the teacher.
