Why LCD is hurting my eyes
It is a 22" Samsung computer monitor. I'm not sitting close to it. I have it about a foot and a half away. I can see lines whenever I scroll. I never really saw that with my 19" LCD screen. This one is widescreen opposed to the other one which was just a traditional one. Thanks

Check the refresh rate, a high number is better for the eyes. Try to get it at least 60Hz.

Your monitor is a cheap TN panel made for high profit margins and
does no service to your eyes. I've tried 3 different LCDs and hated them all a dell benq and a HP. You might want to try a glare filter but finding one for a 22" maybe hard since they cap out at around 20".
Buy a Trinitron CRT like a Dell p991
Also the graphics card can make a difference there is no win win situation with LCD monitors.

There are three possibilities, first, your graphics card is not capable of producing such a higher resolution crisply, secondly, you need graphics drivers, or thirdly, the screen just has a poor quality. Im going with number one. Turn down the resolution a little and see what happens.

i think this is unrelated to your computer
maybe you're just staring too hard
also, you might be seeing lines because you're graphics card isnt powerful enough to make it seem smooth
