Why is my cat urinating on my furniture?
He is 5 years old and has never done anything like this before. I keep his litter clean and his food and water fresh. I play with him when he wants to play, pet him when he wants petted. He has been doing it for the past week and i have no idea whats wrong with him. He doesn't seem sick and his pee and poo look normal. What gives?
Sorry....yes he is fixed! I have had him 5 yrs and this is the first time he's done this. There hasnt been a change of routine or anything. Thanks for your answers.

Inappropriate urination is often a sign of illness, it's possible he has a urinary infection so you should take her to the vet for a check up.
If he has not been neutered, then he should be.
Litter box problems are very frustrating for all.....human and feline. Here's a link that you might find helpful:

are there any cats lurking around outside? often its a territorial thing, especially if he is not neutered. If he is not i would advise doing it asap before the spraying becomes a habit that you cannot break.
also make sure his kitty litter is regularly clean (daily) and in a safe level spot (e.g. in the laundry or bathroom where it quiet on a flat surface).
if it persists there is a pheromone spray you can get to deter him from spraying or a pheromone plug that you can put in a power point in the room he is spraying in.
good luck and otherwise get him checked by your Vet, its not likely to be an infection unless he is straining or peeing small amounts frequently
no need to worry about cushions disease unless your vet diagnoses it

Cats urinate the place they scent urine or some thing that smells like urine. you may thoroughly soak it in oxyclean blended with chilly water and allow it dry interior the sunlight or freeze dry outdoors to crumble any organics and acids in there, or you may spend a ton to have a fixtures cleanser do the ozone scientific care on it, yet oxy cleansing is maximum helpful by using fact it is going to absorb smells interior the destiny with leftover residue. when you sparkling it, spray on or rub in lemon peel and mint oil. Forgot to show; cats in warmth will spray each little thing. you'll be able to could make a conceal because even the main suitable deterrent sprays from puppy shops do no longer constantly artwork in keeping with journey with 7 cats.

Definitely call a vet and ask if you should bring him in.
Very sorry and hope he's ok.
I use a product called Nature's Miracle to clean up my cat's messes--never had to deal with urine, but it works great on vomit, so you might give that a try.

are you home when he does this?
some animals acquire something called social axiety..
misbehaving when their owner is not around...
because well... they miss their company...
look into that...
or even it could be a urinary tract problem...
clean the furniture with lemon juice to rid it from the odor so he won't come back to that spot...
petstores also sell aersol sprays that repell cats from unwanted areas... if u want... that can be an option as well.
good luck

My cat had the same problem. One take him to the vet. he might have to take medication for the rest of his life, im pretty sure the disease is called cushions, and I hate to say this, but if the medication isn't working, u might have to put him down. Im sorry I love cats, and I wish you the best of luck..

He is not "fixed" is he.? They will continue to mark out their territory because that is what they do and "pee on you". Doesn't have cushions disease as it is probably the first thing he peed on. Probably more like "carpet disease" because there is alot of that. Or "Easyboy" disease.
