Should we be able to tell if someone is a Christian without asking them?

Not necessarily. Usually you can tell Christians apart from non-christians by the way they act, talk, dress, think, etc. But just because they have these good characteristics does not mean they are really a Christian. It is true that when a person accepts Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes into that person's life to change that person. So good works and things like that should come naturally with that change, but it's not the ultimate way to know for sure. Some people seem like great people too, but it doesn't mean they have been saved. In fact, some people may act this way because they believe that their good deeds will get them into heaven. I don't we think we can 100% know if the person is really a Christian because we don't know their heart. If the person is doing good things because they have accepted Jesus and because they want to get closer to God, then that person is a Christian. Just because a person says that they are a Christian doesn't mean they are. There are many false prophets in the world today.

There have been many times I was around someone that I felt was a christian, just being around them I thought "I wonder if they know the Lord?" And so then I would eventually ask them if they went to a church or were christians and they would cheerfully say "YES!" and talked about what church they went to or what the Lord is doing in their life, so that was pretty awesome. But yeah good question! Because there are many times I wonder the same thing...I mean we AS christians should be LIGHTS to this world so that others know we are different, that there is something about us, and we as christians should see the fruit in other christians as well....Man this kinda convicts me! I hope I am being a light to others, sometimes I feel I may not be. But good question there Don!

I understand your question and the answer is yes. When a person decides to follow Christ, they should slowly change. Their mannerisms and attitude should reflect that. They should be respectful, modest, not quick to anger, truthful and genuine.

Yes others show this these qualities. But a Christian should at least try to show these qualities in their life style.

Yes in the way christians act, in the things christians do, and the things that they say.

If you are filled with the Holy Spirit and you come across another person who is filled with the Holy Spirit, I believe yes. I must also say that we should never assume anything though... there is only one way to Heaven and it is our job to make sure everyone knows how that works....

In many instances yes you can, many Christians live in such a way that even non believers recognize them.

but other christian try to fit in so hard that I am not sure that Jesus could recognize them.

technically though, the bible says by their works we will know them and the presence of God in us tells us when we are around another christian.

i just had a talk like this with my mom last night just watch them how they act and talk what they like to do that can tell alot! im a christian!
