A piece of string is shorter than the string from which it came. But then, it is also a string itself, not just a piece of a string, isn't it?

I'm confused. I'm going out for a ride to relax my mind.

All strings are twice as long divided by 2, unless they are metric. But metric strings are extremey rare.

Twice as long as from the mid point to one end

    50 feet.

After that, it comes on a spool.

You know, the thing you cut the other pieces off of.
