Christians: what reasons do you have to believe that the bible is the actual word of god?

Other than the bible says it in itself.

I have dreams that Jesus pulled out a metal folding chair and threatened to go to town on my hind-quarter if i didn't believe. Good enough for me.

Do you understand Bible truth? If so, you have been richly blessed. When an author writes a book, he or she usually fashions it to appeal to a specific group of people. Some books are written for the highly educated, others for children, still others for those in specialized fields. While the Bible is easily available to all, it is meant to be understood and appreciated by a particular group of people. Jehovah crafted it for the humble, the meek ones of the earth. Such people can grasp the sense of the Bible, whatever their education, culture, station in life, or ethnic group. (1 Timothy 2:3, 4) On the other hand, an understanding of Bible truth is denied to those not rightly disposed, no matter how intelligent or educated they may be. The haughty, the proud, cannot grasp the precious truths of God’s Word. (Matthew 13:11-15; Luke 10:21; Acts 13:48) Only God could produce such a book.

G'day Gabby. As one that is filled with the Holy Spirit, you will be thinking OMG another nutcase, hallelujah am glad to know the truth now. Now to your Q's, before I came to become a Christian I read some of the bible, made no sense and to me was not real. When I was baptised and received, what a difference. All makes sense, and as I read it, no mere mortal could inspire such teachings and truth. For believers if their eyes are opened to see that the Bible is Gods own inspiration they never doubt that it is from God

I'm not sure the Bible says it's the "actual word of God". I rely on the Church to give the writings the credit for being accurate and authentic accounts of God's plan for our salvation.

Christ never said there'd be a book to guide his followers, but he did establish a Church, and he promised the Holy Spirit would guide it in truth until the end of time. It was the Church that produced the Bible, not the other way 'round.

Think about this, if we were created by the big bang, could we be like this now? I mean, we are amazing species, each one of us.

2nd, if the bible weren't true, how come all the authors of the bible only point to one thing? Jesus Christ is the saviour of the world. Take note, they are people from far away lands, they didn't just have a meeting and talked about what to write, they didn't even know each other.

    Revelation through the Holy Spirit.

Okay I doubt that's gong to translate very well so let's see if I can clarify.

God is an eternal spirit and we do not know God through our wisdom or reveal him through the physical.

There is a greater truth than that which you can see with your physical eyes.

The proof of God is not physical but is through the spirit.

Those that love and seek the truth receive a gift form God called faith.

Through faith we receive revelation from God.

Through revelation we begin a personal relationship with God.

  • It has proved itself to be so in my life and in the lives of millions of other people.
