I don't want to debate anything, I was just wondering who you think Jesus was. A work of "Bible Fiction" and/or Myth, or a real person glorified to Savior status?
Just curious as to your own thoughts on the matter. Not debating anything. Thanks!!

This is the best documentary ever that will explain Jesus myth.

Probably a myth, but if Jesus was indeed a real person (which isn't unlikely) then he was a very interesting philosopher. I can appreciate the Jesus perspective on life, but if you compare the New Testament to the Old, the thing that really makes Jesus great is that he was not content to accept the teachings of the Old Testament-- in fact he practiced completely opposite of them.
That alone should tell you something of the 'divine' status of Jesus.

It seems most likely, given the scarcity and poor quality of evidence for the existence of a historical Jesus, and the fact that many myths from earlier religions (including judiasm) which describe the christ story very closely were already in existence that jesus never actually existed, even initially and that the writers of the gospels intended him to be taken as a sort of spiritual allegory rather than a real person.

I believed for a long time that Jesus had historical evidence to prove his existence. Eventually I found it that there actually is no evidence of Jesus existing. You'd think the Romans would have kept track of such a political troublemaker, right? Or that someone else would have wrote about his miracles...
Since what Jesus teaches is very different from what the Jewish believed, I have trouble believing he was entirely made up. I'm beginning to wonder if maybe a Buddhist monk made his way over there and they took his teachings and added miracles to create the character we know to be Jesus.

Those are the only options? I would have to refuse to answer on the basis that the available options are ludicrous.
There is no contemporary, at the time of Jesus, mention of Jesus in any historical records. We have no confirmed archaeological evidence to support Jesus. We don't accept the existence of dragons based upon the notion that because it is mentioned in an historical text it is true, why should we do the same with Jesus?
Personally, I'm heathen so it doesn't matter if he existed or not or if he is the son of the christian god or the christian god himself incarnate. It doesn't matter to me, because I personally don't condone or approve of what christianity condones and approves. I can't compromise my morals, ethics, ideals and existence to pander to some political propaganda.

There is not one single mention of Jesus in the entire Roman record - that is right - not one!!! At the same time as he was supposed to have been around there were a number of Jews claiming to be the messiah - all of whom are well recorded!!
Outside of the bible he is not mentioned in anything until many years after his supposed death!!
The kindest possible interpretation must be that he is an amalgam of the ones claiming to be the messiah!!

I can't verify that Jesus existed at all, but I tend to believe that he was an actual person who had some novel ideas that people should be nicer to each other. After he was executed, some other people decided to make the story more exciting by talking about miracles and such.

He was probably a real person who preached at the time.
The teaching stories about him might be convoluted with some other preachers of his approximate time.
The Gospels were written after the Romans destroyed the Jewish Temple, dispelling any idea he was the Messiah in the Jewish sense; so they re-interpreted his life in a different way.

There was more than likely a Jesus of Nazareth. There were hundreds, maybe even thousands of alleged prophets during that time period, and by sheer luck had 4 friends who decided to write a book about him.

As far as I can tell, he may have been an actual person. He may not have carried the name "Jesus," but the writers of the bible could have used this man.
