I received a notice from the National Arbitration Forum?
It said that my case had been dismissed at the request of the other party. I didn't even know that I HAD a case against me. is there anything that I need to do?
i know who/what the other party is and why they could legally go after me. I'm more concerned with the fact that I never received notification if the arbitration in the first place. according to the NAF website I was supposed to be notified that I had a case so that I could argue my side.

I haven't a clue what it is, but you might want to look into it.
It sounds like it's not even really a legal thing. I believe they are arbitrators in the hip pocket of the credit card companies. They are mainly in business to scare you into paying your debts.
Of course, you should * pay * your debts, but there are legal ways to go about getting you to do it, but I guess this way is a little questionable.
From my investigation, it appears most people's first contact with this company is through a letter much like the one you received and it doesn't sound like anything was dismissed. It was only the first volley in coming after you. Find out what your rights are regarding arbitration.

call the arbitrator and ask what the situation was. Next, find out who the other side was and ask them to provide proof that they sent you a notice of arbitration. if any negative effects come from this see a personal injury attorney about suing the other side.

you could run a background and credit check on yourself to check and see what all is out there that you don't know about. with fraud/identity theft being on the rise, its really not a bad idea just to be safe, and identity theft insurance is also a good thing incase you fall victim. found out the hard way, didn't have the insurance and couldn't prove it wasn't me who set up the account online and got stuck with a massive bill.
