Short amplitude, high fequency (2.5Ghz) RF beam concentrated by a wave guide.

All RF has energy but things always get more exciting around the short ones.

Microwave energy penetrates food and excites the molecules. As the molecules move faster, they generate heat, which is what cooks the food. Because the microwaves penetrate, the food cooks both inside and outside at the same time, instead of from the outside in as in a normal oven. that's why things heat so fast.
