They sell cat flaps that only open to cats with a device on their collar. You could buy one of those and install it. That way it only lets YOUR cats in and keeps the tom cat OUT.
Good luck!

Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing!
Can't stop your cat peeing in the house? Then worry no more...

Do you know who owns this cat? If so, you need to tell them what he's doing and to please keep him confined. If he's not fixed, they are also probably not taking good care of him and he could be exposing your kitties to some serious (even deadly) diseases and/or parasites. There's many out there! If he's feral, you are going to have to call your local animal control for the safety of your cats. Are you afraid that they may put him to sleep? Maybe you could call a local animal rescue group and explain the situation and tell them that you don't want the animal euthanized. Call all your local animal shelters and ask about any animal rescue groups that also foster or if there are any no-kill cat shelters. There are also some trial groups in the south that are catching feral cats and spaying and neutering them and the releasing them back in the while. I'm sure they also vaccinate them. Here's something about the catch and release program.

I guess that this doesn't apply if the cat does belong to someone. Cats actually do very well in the wild especially young, healthy ones. They have a natural hunting instinct and the ability to find great shelter.
HOPE I HELPED! I just really love cats. I know how bad an un-neutered cat smells and the smell is impossible to get out of your furniture. GOOD LUCK!

If there is any way to close up the cat door (like maybe add a latch or lock if it's solid) I would do that. If not you might have to close up the cat door and let your cats out by opening and closing the door. I know your kitties wont be happy about that at all, but at least you would keep the stray out. The only other thing I can think of is to add some type of screen door infront of the kittie door so you can open it during the day but close it at night.
I hope you find a solution :S good luck!!

well...
you could bring it to the vet, or an animal shelter to get fixed and adopted- if you feel safe enough to capture it and bring it. I'd recommend wearing gardening gloves and a heavy sweatshirt/jacket.
If it's someone else's cat, I still recommend taking it in. They need to control their animal, outdoor or not. Unfortunately, you may have to close up the cat door and just let them in and out. I know it's a pain, but it's better than the house/cats getting sprayed. and maybe the tom cat will learn that it cant get in anymore

most expensive solution: sometimes you can go to zoos and purchase TIGER manure. (sometimes they sell lion manure) It's not THAT expensive, but it's more than second solution. bury it (but shallow not deep) in the dirt outside your home. no cat or any other animal will ever come over there that doesn't live there. They will smell that a much meaner badder animal is present. YOUR pets will be fine because they already have their scent there and can't be fooled.
second solution: put pure ammonia in a spray bottle and spray just outside the door. this will do 2 things, remove your pets natural odor (scent) so they are not attracted to your home. and second, it just smells bad.
Good Luck!

I have the same problem with my cat..and the neighbours cat comes in the cat door. HELP.. Anyone got ideas to help us.. I tried a cat collar on my female cat which no doubt works wonders on most cats but my cat hates it and constantly tries to get it off. Maybe you could try the collar it might work for your cat.

close the cat door and if you can't do that then put something in front of it and start opening the door to let your cats out each time they ask. a stray cat did almost the same thing at my house just would come in and then eat our cat"s food. it attacked our cats once. our cats just come to the front door meow and we go let them out. we can hear them through the door and we let them back in. simple as that! if your cat starts to ask to go out at night than ignore it. even if it means them keeping you up all night. if your bedroom has a carpet then they may start scratching it to get your attention. wait till morning then put a plastic carpet cover thing on the place they keep scratching. good luck!

Close the cat door or install a sprinkler system. Or you could wait behind it and spray him in the face when he comes in.
