Fridge knocking, apartment manager won't fix?

I've lived in my apartment for 2 years now and over a year ago my fridge started knocking when the compressor turns on/off. The knock lasts about 2 seconds or so and is loud enough for guests to think someone is knocking at the door. My apartment maintenance came to check it out and told me it was "normal" and didn't fix it. My question is, is this dangerous? what is the worst that could happen? i leave my two dogs baby-gated in the kitchen all day while i'm work and i worry about it. Should i make a bigger deal and have the office fix it or get me a new fridge??? It cools fine and there are no other problems. fridge is probably 5 or 6 years old. has an ice maker but i dont use it.

Thanks

I am not specialized in the fridge department. I know that when my compressor turns on and off it makes a little knocking noise. But if the knocking is that loud, I would say there is something off. If there are no other problems, I would say this is a small probably and could most likely be fixed without spending alot of money. However the maintaince guy probably doesn't want to spend the time or money fixing it.

The issue is that you have been living there for two years, and since you have been there that long, I am assuming that you pay your rent on time. I would call the land lord and let them know what is going on. Tell them that you want it fixed or you will be looking for a new place to live.

I use to rent out one of my houses so I know that tenants that pay and respect your property are hard to find, and if you are one of those tenants they do not want to lose you and it wil be worth it tofix the problem for you.

If they refuse to fix it then call The City Housing Department they will force your landlord to fix it.

hello charnisa, I stay in la besides and had a project with my landlord not fixing a broken demonstrate which posed a risk to my babies because of the fact it may fall over. After asking for a pair months I sent them what's named a "restore and Deduct" letter. that is particularly a approved letter issued to the owner pointing out the subject and why it poses a severe probability. they have a definite volume of time to respond and restore or you may get it fastened and DEDUCT the fee out of your lease. There are some regulations and regulations to apply this regulation, be sure you Google it and persist with the needed steps. good success :) Oh and BTW when I issued the letter the demonstrate became fastened with a week.

The worst thing that can happen is for you to lose sleep worrying about it.Some pumps are just louders than others. The isolators are probably missing or worn on the compressor feet.

just check it's level and if not adjust the feet accordingly .
