When God calls us; can we tell Him to come back later at a more convenient time and then we will repent?

It seems today that we are all looking at the theif on the cross. Many are telling God not today when He calls. They want to have their fun in the world while thinking if something should happen they can always repent and God will forgive them. But does it really work that away?

Update:

Isaiah 55:6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

2Peter 3:14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

    Delayed obedience is disobedience.

[It's also one way of missing your moment to be used greatly by God. In Numbers 22, Ba'laam ignored God's angel so God ended up using Ba'laam's donkey to get His point across.] We seriously miss opportunities with God--working

in partnership with Him--when we ignore His calls. (We will all see God. If saved He won't judge us for sins BUT He's going to want to know what we did with the precious life He gave us.)

No, it doesn't work that way: be disobedient until a convenient time and say you're sorry about it at some point then do "make up" work for the err.

With God, timing is everything and He has everything perfectly mapped out. Everyone is connected and what each person does or does not do affects others. God can and does work things out when someone doesn't fulfill his/her role/part/purpose but if we are indeed in Christ, why wouldn't we want to be obedient. (Truth: God knows our thoughts and deeds before we do so He's not caught offguard by our mistakes/sins. He sees the beginning and end of all things.)

We put God off until... It wasn't convenient for Jesus to hang on that Cross either but He did it.

It's not about us and our lives but it's about God and what we do to glorify Him and make His name great--which is, after all, what we are purposed to do.

If you truly repent you will be forgiven but if you have known the Truth and rejected it you are in danger.

If you ask God to come back later you may not get another chance. Wwhat happens if you die tomorrow?

"2Co 6:2 For He says, "In an acceptable time I heard you, and in a day of salvation I helped you." Behold, now is the acceptable time! Behold, now is the day of salvation!"

EDIT: Dude, honestly it's not as bad as you think. Once you are saved you will not miss the things of the world as much as you think. And when you receive the Holy Spirit it becomes even easier to walk the straight path. But first you need to get to the point of true repentance. Read the Bible and pray!

    God's grace be upon you.

Today if you hear His voice, harden not your heart. Behold, now is the accepted time of salvation.

These are words in the New Testament epistles.

But suppose there is no time, like when a stray bullet from a crazed man hit you? While there is still time, "today", a man must be reconciled with God and not wait. Chances are, the last minute confessions might not turn out right because the person involved has no real desire to turn away from sin or really has no true love for God but only because he is afraid to die.

Some peoles lives have been saved by applying bible principles. The world we live in blinds people from seeing the real story. Its like when you where a kid and maybe played a game called telephone where you wisper in someone ears a story like "Johnny likes Suzie". If your the last person you might hear "Johnny likes Susui"! You need to give the bible a chance. Try one principle. Its called the golden rule. Try doing something good to others. Don't do it just to get back something. But down the road good will win over evil. Thats a story thats been going on for decades, and its true!!! Best wishes.

Many have used this loop-hole and God has been merciful,BUT...The Isaiah text indicates that we need to respond to God's call While He may be found and near,to us..In other words,"While, grace is being extended"...Both the salvation experience,as well as ANY other attempt to change(repent), is not based soley on ones will and ability. (The bible records that "Esau" sought repentence with tears, but was unable to change. It requires grace on the part of God,to be successful. Every thing hinges on God's extended hand of grace...Not to mention literally thousands of missed opportunities, that were carelessly ignored,by turning a deaf ear,to God's calling...I seriously echo the comments,by brother Semper Fi...

That is a dangerous thing to plan on.

Repentance is granted by God. How can you be sure you will be repentant at some point in the future?

That begs the question, if the person is planning to put off repentance, do they understand what repentance really is? If you have Godly sorrow for your sins, how could he put off repentance?

For Godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of , but the sorrow of the world brings death. 2Cor7:10

Ya got some good answers bro ! I just want to put a little more reading out :

    Matthew 25:13

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and WENT FORTH to meet the Bridegroom, and five of them were, FOOLISH !

And five of them, WISE !!!

They that were foolish, took their lamps, and took NO OIL with them : But the WISE, took OIL in their VESSELS, with their lamps. WHILE THE BRIDE GROOM TARRIED, they ALL slumbered, and slept .

And at midnight, there was a CRY made ( The Watchmen of the Lord ) , Behold, the bridegroom cometh : go ye out to meet Him. Then ALL those virgins AROSE, and trimmed their lamps.

And the FOOLISH said unto the WISE, Give us your OIL : for our lamps are GONE OUT !

    But the WISE answered, saying..............

NOT SO ! Lest there be not enough for us, and, you.: BUT : Go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

And , while they went to buy, the Bridegroom came : and they that were READY went in with Him to the Marriage :

AND THE DOOR WAS SHUT !

Afterward, came also the OTHER virgins, saying Lord , Lord, open to us . But He answered and said, VERILY, I say unto you I know you not.

WATCH THEREFORE, FOR YE KNOW NEITHER THE DAY NOR THE HOUR WHEREIN THE SON OF MAN COMETH...

As there are no guarantees in life, it is dangerous to put off accepting Christ and serving God. None of us is guaranteed life past the moment we are currently living. We could any of us die or Christ could return in the next instant. That is why it is important to live each moment to the fullest and serve God to the fullest at all times. We must be ready and willing to go at all times-as we don't know the moment God will call us home for eternity. Please don't put off answering Gods call.

“And Jesus said to him, No one, having put their hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

    (Luke.9:62)

In Luke 9:57-62, we see the half-hearted, who will have their own will over His will; but Christ does´nt force anyone, His people are volunteers; and if one has the attitude of taking lightly Christ´s Words, then for that person, the Lord will come when they are not looking, and at an hour they are unaware of(Luke.12:39,40,45,46).

No, when God calls us, we must repent immediately and not ask Him to come back at a more convenient time. That would be sin if we asked God to come back later.
