If CC Sabathia can win the Cy Young then can Manny Ramirez win the MVP?
Every time CC pitches they scream Cy Young on both Baseball Tonight and SportsCenter. When do the chats for MVP for Manny Ramirez start? My question is if CC can win the Cy Young over Brandon Webb or Tim Lincecum then can Manny win the MVP?
Manny as a Dodger
38 games (21-17 record and team is in 1st place)
.396 Batting Average (53-134)
.410 On Base %
.776 Slugging %
1.264 OPS
14 Homeruns (3rd on the team)
40 Runs Batted In
27 Runs Scored
25 Walks to 27 Strikeouts
2 Stolen Bases (had 2 from 2005 through July 2008)

The ESPN bobbleheads are morons who should not be taken seriously. They may be on the Sabathia bandwagon now but they're the same guys who were slamming him when he got lit up last postseason. They're front-running @ssholes.
Sabathia and Ramirez have gotten off to hot starts in the NL but they weren't anything special in the AL this season which was a contributing factor when it came to being traded. To suggest they should be considered for postseason awards is an insult to the players who actually deserve them.
ESPN was ready to give Josh Hasmilton the Triple Crown back in July. How did that work out?

No, neither can win it. C.C. Sabathia has been brilliant the best pitcher in the NL. But hes only been in the NL for a month and a half. The Cy should go to a guy whos been on the mound for his team all six months. Lincecum, Santana and Sheets would be my top three. As for Manny, he's also dazzled, easily the best player on the Dodgers. And he's probably the Dodgers MVP, but their offense has been dreadful for the most part. I think by season's end you'll find that Ramirez's numbers in the NL arent much better than Pujols'. Albert's my MVP simply because hes played at a high rate for all six months. More valuable to their team might be Manny cuz if the Dodgers make the playoffs itll be mostly due to him. But Pujols has been the better NL player.
Look at it this way: one guy plays ball for 21 years and the other guys plays for 7, and the latter gets elected into the Hall of Fame with a higher voting percentage. He did have better percentages, but the guy who played for 21 years also had great percentages, and he played at that level three times as long. Manny's been good, but not worthy of the highest NL honor

I gonna say no. To win the MVP or the Cy Young I feel both players need better stats for a longer period of time. If both started with the Brewers and Dodgers than I would make a case for both. Also it really depends on how each player closes their season. It looks like a lock for the Brewers to get the Wild Card and CC if was not there then where would the Brewers be? Same scenario with Manny, I can't imagine the Dodgers being close to winning the West without Manny. Thats why everyone and their mother is screaming about CC and Cy Young. Baseball MVP's statistically go for the entire season in each league. But Manny will not have the NL numbers for the MVP. It will probably go to Fat Albert, but I will root for the underdog to win.

It depends on your definition of the MVP award. If you think it's the players most valuable to one's team, you certainly could include Manny in the MVP race for the National League. Since he went to the Dodgers, he's had a huge hand in helping the offense obviously but also contributes to a better atmosphere in the clubhouse and has attracted more fans to Dodger Stadium. It looks like the Dodgers are in the driver's seat to make the playoffs from the NL West so I think he deserves consideration.
In my opinion, though, the award should go to Albert Pujols.

C.C. won't win the Cy Young because some people think that you have to be part of the league for the entire season even though the player has no control upon being traded. So, Manny will see the same fate.

I had to put up with manny for 8 years here in Boston sure he helped us win two titles but I never saw him have an MVP year for the team. An MVP is not just somone who puts up big numbers but they basically carry the team too. What has manny done?? He was traded out of Boston for being a lazy menace, and now he's trying to impress the national league fans by actually hustling!! Manny is not going to ever get MVP!

in the event that they do they are incorrect. Greinke had a lots extra suitable year, yet human beings basically choose to confirm somebody from a winning team get it. Its like how human beings affiliate the MVP identify with who hits the main abode runs. they might desire to look on the massive image. EDIT: suited occasion on the real, human beings don't get that the Cy youthful award is a guy or woman award no longer in keeping with how the remainder of your team did or in the event that they made the playoffs. FYI..... the balloting happens in the previous the playoffs initiate for each MLB award so playoffs for sure are no longer a factor of the balloting.

One small correction to Manny's stats.
His correct on base percentage as of this AM as a Dodger is .488.
He certainly made Petco Park look like a normal park last night.
Actually Petco Park is enormous.
But than MVP type players can do that.

He would definitely be eligible but I do not see him getting serious consideration because of the short time that he was in the league, I feel the same about CC as well...The ROY is the only award that really rewards a player for half a season of success.

Can Ramirez win?
Certainly he's eligible for consideration.
But he won't win. Not with only 50-55 games in the NL. Simply not realistic. He'll get some downballot votes.
