Does this poll prove that the Obama has less of a chance?

Republicans are viewed as bigots in the following article and the fact that the majority have that view could cost Obama the race for the White House. I am not shocked, but I am disgusted.

http://news.yahoo.com/page/election-2008-political...

I'm voting for Obama regardless. The sad fact is that closet bigots will remain so.

Update:

By the way, avatar has nothing to do with who I am or what I look like. For all you know, I'm a McCain supporter trying feverishly to get the Republican to pay attention to the media hype - dumb@$$.

Dear Stick Out, some of the answers below appall me. These are racists. I am on your side. McCain is getting senile (obviously), and his running mate is a barbarian. She will be running things, as evidenced by her introducing the ticket in Iowa yesterday as "the Palin/McCain administration." She is also up to her neck in scandal. The poll I most rely on, foolishly probably, is Pollster.com. It currently has Obama up by 3 points in the popular vote, down by six in Electoral. But there are quite a number of toss-up states--yellow--Obama ahead in the majority of them. The site gives you the latest poll summary in each state. I do fear this story, but I think it will not work. Stanford is quite a conservative school in the midst of a heavily Democratic district. Remember, however, this statement by H.L. Mencken: "Nobody ever lost an election by underestimating the intelligence of the American voter." You've got some really unintelligent answers below. Wait for the debates. Obama will win all three, and Biden will decimate the empty-headed Palin (unless she brings her AK-47). I wish I knew how to get to you on a personal basis so we could hold hands by email. See the site called Eldorado Writing. Sit tight! We'll win! Jack

  • Not really. Even if every black man, woman and child voted for Obama that would still only account for 12% of the population. This shows that there are still some things that we need to work on which is to be expected - we're only two generations removed from Jim Crow - but Obama couldn't be anywhere near where he is today without the support of whites. When I look at his rally audiences, I see far more white faces than black.

When push comes to shove, the only color that people really care about is the green of their dollars and in these times most people are going to vote for the person they think can whip this economy into shape and keep more of those dollars in their pockets.

We all have our "doubts" about avatars but if this is truly you, stay blonde and continue to render a relevant question. Which is a far cry of most I read here. Most saw your question, thought it was easy enough to collect two points. ANd rendered a answer relative to their thought. I say this at the ris of insulting someone within this "community" and my be censured and warned.

I've read this article rendered by many different sources. It says that "blacks" are violent, lazy and blame their problems on caucasians (whites) that take no control in effort to better themselves. This "poll" was conducted by "Yahoo", right where we are now. If the poll had have been conducted here, they would have received much of the same numbers.

My question is why do caucasians (whites) "really" feel this way. Do they only associate with "blacks" they presume are in this category/ Or do they ride through a neighborhood and derive at their decision? Or do they make a random conclusion that all "blacks" are the same based on their sights and experiences. Or could it be because they fear "blacks' have become "violent" for more than four hundred years of brutal oppression. Their only answer is that "I" had nothing to do with that, this is "today". Well the oppression still continues today. We, and I am a African American with a job are still opressed. This article you sited bears withness to that. The answers you read her support that.

Every ethnic background that has been oppressed by America has been "paid" off for the inhumane treated of American policies. The Japanese interred in concetration camps here, during WWII were paid $20,000.00. The Native American, and rightly so has now been granted the rights to start casino's for the autrocties they endured. All but the Native African American. Is there something inherently wrong with that? Is there something wrong with caucasians not taking this fact at face value and not understanding, rather refusing to understand why "blacks" feel and may respond they way they do. There a a proportionatlly a much larger number of "blacks who are self supportive of themselves. Yet we, along with Mr. Obama are frowned upon because we have been labled "black". DId this study take into account there are probably just as many "whites" that should be placed in these catagories? Yahoo did not pose this question in the poll. Probably not, it was specifically directed towards "blacks". I essence, "yahoo" played the race card.

Republicans don't take anyone's issues to task other than their own. Yet there were less than 6% of their party representation composed of "blacks", those they consider not a threat. Is the percentage of threats, laziness, violence, the willingness to do nothing for themselves to better themselves validate the reason to place this stigma on all "blacks". I would have to Mr. Obama. Since no one is really willing to really look at his heritage which is also an underlying excuse not to vote for him. His mother was a caucasin (white) who dishonored her race and had a child with a "black" man.

I could go on and on but then I'm sure it would only incite those here who refuse to understand. Those who are most inclined to adhere to their upbringing. All men and women "black" and white are not created as equals. There are so many ways to detract from that. Beat someone in to submission because you are afraid of them because of what you've done to them is the most effective way. And then they will ask why they feel this way. Why do they act this way? Because!

Source(s): Life as a "black" person... I been labeled many things, the "n" word, slick, spad, chief, Michan, Negro, Black and others... First and foremost, I make every effort to be a humab being... If only everyone else would make the same effort. MLK was all inclusive in having his dream, he wanted everyone to realize and share it... It's really a shame that will never happen... But, I will vote Obama/Biden and I believe Mr, Biden is a "white" man...

Yeah, I have always wondered this. I live in the south and the bigotry here is unbelievable. Absolutely horrific. We literally have a section of town that looks like a little shanty town. I know most of the rednecks in my town will be voting for McCain for racial reasons. I'm just hoping the educated portion of America will vote on the real issues facing our citizens and vote Obama in. We shall see.

Source(s): I have lived in many areas of the country, the south IS the most racist, the midwest is second.

    Race is irrelevant.

The accusation of Racism is a distractor used by the Obama campaign to avoid the substantive discussion of the issueas and to excuse failures and declining poll numbers.

The poll that you cite was performed by an organization that is a strong supporter of Obama.

The purpose of the poll was to give Obama some cover when he and his supporters make their ridiculous accusations of racism.

This poll is not reliable and should be considered as an Obama advertisement and not a legitimate poll.

I think you can gauge the anti black backlash from the amount of anti immigration sentiment afoot in this country. A lot of Americans still believe that America is strictly for White Anglosaxon Protestants.

I deffinetly hope so. I don't want Obama to be president. And I can hardly believe you're going around pretending to be Jessica Simpson (or whoever that may be.)

I think its ironic that the people mentioned in that poll are trolling around with the "well thats just an excuse".

No, its reality. Racist whites on all sides of the isle are exactly why Obama has no chance, and never did have a chance.

Polls have in no way almost been 'medical' yet extra of a gauge for those interior of 'camps' to work out how there guy/female are faring amoung posible voters..... plus or minus 6% because it pertains to Ron Paul, i imagine that he's the in straightforward words Republican it extremely is operating that even appears like a authentic Republican..... i'm a creative liberal and the in straightforward words element which will shop me from vote casting for Ron is that he needs to get rid of the IRS and the dep. of coaching..... the quantity of funds that a candidate makes in donations that the so-referred to as media likes to tout as a gold megastar for suggested candidate isn't and could no longer be an element in any respect in elections! It (money from company donors) dirties our democracy and soils the incentive of people that could opt to steer us! the in straightforward words polls that come out as even close to to being legitimate are the go out polls on election day, why? because as people walk out of a polling position they are extra in all danger to admit who they voted for really than even as being requested over the phone who they could vote for in the close to destiny...... In 2000 Al Gore's go out polling became about 50% to Bush's 40 8% in Florida (even as averaged out) and correctly..... all of us understand how that grew to grow to be out those so-referred to as 'medical' polls will proceed to be this way see you later because the media is company owned. They (company media) like anybody/something else has it truly is own time table, it extremely is earnings! They (media) needs desperately the guy which will enable them the most earnings via any ability. social gathering: the guy operating the FCC (A Bush appointee) needs to de-regualte the media to the point that a guy like Rupert Murdoch's (an Australian) "information Corp" could conceivably be the only proprietor of all media in the united states...... each and each of the polls do is doubtlessly provide an excuse for the media to hoist up the guy they maximum favor in the White domicile!

he has been fighting the Idiots that are "helping", more than anyone else. I'll take Obama over the same mess we are into any day of the week. I would have preferred Hillary, but I'll take 2nd best.
