Is it already too cold for my mums?
I have two mum plants in a big pot on my porch. The last few nights it has been getting down into the forties and my mums are slowly dying. All summer long they were full green, very healthy. Yesterday I went out to water them and noticed some weeds had grown right in the middle (and sort of on top) of the plants. Sadly, I noticed this because the leaves are starting to die. I pulled the weeds but the roots were very thick and deep. I would really like to save these mums if possible because they were my moms last year and she gave them to me as a gift for moving into my first house.

If you have space to plant your mums in the ground I would suggest you do so. The roots will be exposed to much colder temps at an earlier time in pots than in the ground, (where the ground temp will hold the summer's heat longer). If they're hardy mums they will be back next spring. Just be sure, in the spring, to keep pinching or cutting back the tops of each stem until around the 4th of July. This makes the plant much fuller by fall, otherwise, I have found, my plants put all their energy into growing upward and end up with all the stems getting to heavy and falling over causing the plant to be unattractive. i'm already starting up to get enthusiastic about Christmas as well! like you stated, even as it really is purely about October, you comprehend Christmas is nice round the nook. that's my famous time of the three hundred and sixty 5 days!! :-) like it! i'm able to't anticipate Nov. because suitable after Halloween, radio stations start up playing Christmas music!!!! :-D Oh yeah, and that i became at some shops over the weekend and they already have Christmas stuff out! WooHoo!!! because of Jesus for this brilliant time of the three hundred and sixty 5 days!! :-D Wow I purely opt to assert that i'm truly enthusiastic about Christmas and am in great mood now!!! :-D yay...So satisfied there's a Christmas area on Yahoo solutions.
