Halloween poetry.....Comments?

MOM'S FRIGHTFUL DELIGHT

On Halloween night, my Mother did say

No treats for the trickers who didn't obey

The rules were simple, all must invoke

"Sing me a song, or tell me a joke"

Watching the bums, clowns, ballerinas

Stand 'fore Mom, finding arena

Horrible voices, terrible puns

Getting their treat, strange task doth done.

Year after year, song and dance recalled

Poor little children, some ready to bawl

Mom forces voice, allows them to call

To taste of her smile, sweetness the draw

On Halloween night, everything right

Darkness the theme, but home is all bright

One more chapter, with Mom at the crest

On so many levels, She was the Best!

Update:

Thanks William

Change that line to

"Watching the bums, white ballerinas"

    here are other ones

    # The witches fly

    Across the sky,

The owls go, "Who? Who? Who?"

    The black cats yowl

    And green ghosts howl,

    "Scary Halloween to you!"

    ~Nina Willis Walter~

    # HALLOWEEN MAGIC

    A bald-headed ghost

    Drank some witches' brew

And on top of his head

    A strange thing grew.

    It was pointed and tall

    And black as a bat

    With stringy long hair

    Where his head was flat.

    The sad little ghost

    Didn't want any hair

    Or a black pointed hat

    So he said, "Witch beware!"

    Then he chanted some words

    With a spell-casting switch

    And gave Halloween Night

    A bald-headed witch!!

    ~Barbara M. Hales~

    # SHIVERS

    Bushes quiver

    where shadows lean,

    and not a sliver

    of moon is seen.

    Near the river

    some goblins (green)

    with a witch in front

    and a ghost in between

    Make me sh..i..vvvver,

    but I am keen

    about the shivers

    of Halloween.

I love the ending, but your meter in the first two lines of the second stanza is missing a couple of beats.

    Meter always gives me trouble.

    Otherwise, you have another winner.

As Paris Hilton would say "That's Hot, Ice!"

Great poem - very entertaining and visual.

good do you like mine (thumbs up if good) its called Deep-Sea Squeeze:

I’m wrapped from top to bottom

    in an octopus embrace

with seven arms around my waist

    and one across my face.

    It all began this morning

    with a scuba diving trip.

I found the creature wedged beneath

    a sunken pirate ship.

So, carefully, I dug him free.

    He offered no objection

    but covered me in tentacles

    with octopus affection.

It seems I’ve made a friend today,

but this I’d like to know:

How do you say, in octopus,

    “You’re welcome. Please let go”?
