I hear a lot of people who talk and say that marijuana isn't bad. Let me tell you that it truly is. It may not kill you like cancer but here's what it does..

It makes you listless. Some times, you are so stoned that you can't concentrate on things that are very important (driving, social interaction, school work). Furthermore, you become more prone to anxiety attacks as marijuana causes the user to panic and react incorrectly to certain situations.

Furthermore, the effect weed smoking has on babies in the womb has attributed to many children with ADD and learning disabilities.

She doesn't think Marijuana is addictive because its isn't. Although in rare cases Marijuana can be addictive, it is not generally an addictive drug, as it does not display the withdrawal patterns of drug addiction. Some new research shows that it can be addictive, but in a small percentage of smokers. It cannot be overdosed on, and as far as drugs go is relatively harmless. The effects that it has on memory and concentration are short term, and in most cases do not have long term effects. Marijuana is not a gateway drug! Studies show that marijuana is no more likely to cause drug use than alcohol or tobacco, and drug use is more related to social surrounding than whether or not you smoke pot. Parents and issues surrounding your upbringing determine whether or not you will do drugs, not which drug you do in which order.

However, that doesn't mean she should do it. Realistically, you cannot convince your friend to do something she doesn't want to do though. As a friend, your obligation is to tell her that you're worried about her and that you don't like her smoking Marijuana and you feel it is affecting your friendship. If she wont stop, then maybe its best you don't hang out with her anymore - if she decides that drugs are more important than your friendship than she is no friend to you.

If it gets more serious than Marijuana, which lets face it as far as drugs go is relatively safe, then you should speak with a teacher, adviser or parent and tune them into the situation, just don't expect your friend to like you for it, but its the right thing to do.

Why is marijuana considered bad for you?

A: Because of the serious physical and psychological effects associated with its use, Despite the fact that it is widely available, and even “accepted” in some families and communities, marijuana remains a legally restricted harmful drug. It’s main ingredient is THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol), a mind-altering chemical. Marijuana produced today has a level of THC that is up to 25 times higher than the type sold in the 1960s. And depending on how it is “cut”, it can contain hundreds of other harmful chemicals, many of which are carcinogenic (cancer-causing).

Biologically, marijuana affects the brain, heart, lungs, sexual organs, and depresses the immune system. The effects on the brain include distortion of the senses, confused judgment, and decreased motor skills. Operating machinery and motor vehicles becomes dangerous. Effects on the heart include rapid heart rate and high blood pressure. Respiratory problems include pharyngitis, laryngitis, and bronchitis. Marijuana has been associated with lung, head, and neck cancers. It reduces the T-cells in the immune system that are needed to fight off infections. In pre-teens, marijuana use can retard physical growth and slow down development. High dose marijuana use can cause decreased fertility, breast enlargement in males, and breast milk production.

Usually marijuana in inhaled (smoking a “joint”) for it’s psychological effects. Within the first few minutes, it produces a sense of heightened well being and relaxation. Now that sounds good. But with continued use, the mental effects include short-term memory loss, shortened attention span, impaired learning, social withdrawal, and decreased motivation. Anxiety attacks, panic reactions, delirium, and hallucinations can occur. So pediatricians are very concerned about the harmful effects of marijuana and we do not support its use or legalization.

The thing that got me was infertility, just tell her this

"Imagine you not being able to have any kids when your older, do you really want to have to go through telling your husband that you are infertile?" then PIMP SLAP HER1!

You can't because it is not that bad. Alcohol is much worse then weed. It can be psychologically addictive but it does not create a physical addiction. "Marijuana" is not bad, it opens your mind to new thoughts and ideas and can be very relaxing and is a great alternative to booze. The reason it is a gateway drug is because we have been told for so long how "bad" it is so then we try it and realize that it is not that bad so we think "ohh, its not so bad so the other drugs must not be that bad either" However many are, like coke and meth. But weed is very mild and pretty harmless. So are shrooms. Educate yourself before you try to educate others about drugs.

Don't try it just because someone says to.

You don't have to smoke it.

However, you can't make your friend not smoke it..

The most you can do is explain your concern.

Also, no research proves it is harmful, only that it can increase the risk of cancer if you smoke.. and bronchitis, but anyone can get that.

    Anyway,

Don't judge her, and don't do it just because she is.

    If you care about her,

you'll let her make her own decisions, but make sure she doesn't do it irresponsibly.

Source(s): You don't need to know that.

try it and then judge her......you will find you are wrong, although it is NOT addictive it can be a gateway drug to harder drugs which will be addictive. As long as she isnt getting into the hard stuff...marijuna is harmless
