Can an old head injury cause problems later in life, and what could they be?

I seem to have a sore that has developed where my head was smashed in. I've been getting pains and there seems to be slight swelling. Is there any reason to be concerned, or should I just ignore it and see if it goes away if and when my stress level does.

Please do Not self-diagnose and instead talk with your family doctor. He or she can give you a referral to a neurologist if need be. Just a fyi that people can get cognitive (thought process) treatment for head injury even years later (although not a panacea/cure-all) and perhaps get help for certain problems that they have such as focusing and concentration, memory and perception. Please do call your physician about the soreness and swelling. If he or she says to go to the emergency room, please do follow up.

Your stress level won't go down until this issue is resolved. Because you have a previous injury and pain don't ignore it see a doctor. Better safe than sorry
