Who keeps stealing my "yes on Prop 8" sign from my yard?

Over the past week, my city has been getting several complaints about these signs being stolen all over the city. This is a crime. I sat at a red light last week and saw a lady get out of her car, cross the street and take a "Yes" sign and put it in her trunk! SHEESH!! Gays can already get legal partnerships here in CA. But the stealing really bugs me. Are they so hateful that "No on prop 8" supporters resort to stealing?

You really have it wrong. It isn't about hate, it is about preserving families. People in favor of gay marriage are not trying to keep a right that they already have. They are trying to carve out special rights for a small group. Before the CA Supreme Court overstepped their bounds and overturned the will of the voters, everybody had exactly the same rights. Now, a small group has special rights due to judicial legislation.

Let me share a personal example. Both of my grandparents on my mother's side were alcoholics. Alcoholism may be genetic, but it really doesn't matter, since I chose not to drink. Society allows drinking, but we protect ourselves from the consequences of drinking by passing and enforcing drunk driving laws. Drunk driving is bad because it can kill people. Drunks are often (but not always) abusive too. This is bad for society, and we have the right to protect ourselves.

I know you'll say the gay marriage is not hurting us, but you are wrong. As a species, gay marriage hurts us as is not conducive to procreation and the extension of the species. As a parent, I believe it it damaging to our children to have to deal with this issue. No, I don't hate you, and no, I really don't care what you do that isn't visible to my children, but once you force it in their face, I must protect them. Just like I don't care if somebody drinks, I need to protect my children from the drunk driver.

And yes, it is already being forced on small children. Reference the first graders that went to their lesbian teacher's wedding on a school sponsored field trip in San Francisco. Yes I know that a parent organized it, but it was inappropriate, particularly if they did not receive parental permission from every single child that went.

Quit trying to force your lifestyle in our faces, and perhaps you would meet with less hostility. Drunk driving is bad, and so is gay marriage.

  • Who knows what motivates people to theft and vandalism? Hopefully people will research the issues before voting, though, and not just tally how many "yes" or "no" signs they saw! People here steal the little "Support Our Troops" magnets, and key your car while they're at it.

I am sorry your sign has been stolen that is not right. However the people stealing the signs are hurt by what the sign stands for.

The hatefulness is not in those stealing the signs it is in those who are voting in favor of prop 8. Do some research same-sex couples can currently get married, not domestic partnership, married. Prop 8 is trying to take that away and make us settle for domestic partnership.

There is a huge difference between the two. If you are married and you and your spouse own a house, have children, have financial investments, or have a retirement fund and you die all of that goes to your spouse with out being taxed and without penalties.

If you have a domestic partnership and you have all of those things and you die your spouse looses nearly 50% of the money in taxes on those investments and they may have to fight in court to keep your children you have together even if you left them to your spouse in your will. There are over 1000 rights granted to married couples that are not granted to domestic partnerships. All we want is equal rights.

Religious groups mistakenly think that marriage has something to do with religion. The truth is that any minister in any religion can preform marriages even religions who support gay marriage. Plus marriages can also be preformed by, judges, sea captains, and certain public officials.

My right to marry does not effect you or your rights. The US constitution already grants marriage to ALL American citizens without exception and the California supreme court already declared that it was wrong for voters to try and take away our civil rights the last time they did so. Now prop 8 is trying to take away my existing civil rights.

You want to talk about hate? Then let's talk about the people who were standing in a city parking lot where I have to park when I go to work holding No on 8 signs and shouting that same-sex marriage is immoral. I don't lie, I don't steal, I've never done drugs, I have never committed any crime, I waited until I was with the person I chose to be with forever before I did anything more than kiss, Heck I don't even speed or use foul language. Yet I'm immoral? Yes on 8 signs make me cry, because it may as well be a sign that says "I hate you and your wife," I want to steal those signs and burn them but like I said I don't steal.

So watch who you call hateful. The person stealing the sign is acting out of hurt. The person posting the sign is the one acting out of hate.

We had one little old lady stealing pro. 8 signs. A neighbor followed her to her house wrote down her license number and address and contacted police. She was sited with trespassing and theft. Also I know some one that got his pro 8 bumper sticker stolen from his car. It is a federal offense so anyone doing it could be charged.

edit: If the GAY's wanted marriage so bad why didn't they put it to a vote insted of going behind the backs of 4 billion voters. They went behind the voters backs and convinced 4 judges to vote in their favior. They disregarded the will of the people. when they did this. This is not about their life styles or gay rights. It has to do with our right to define marriage.

Are supporters of Prop 8 so "hateful" that they want to steal the rights of other human beings?

A sign saying that a gay person should not be allowed to marry is saying that gay person is not equal to you. If I was homosexual, I would be burning crosses on all of your lawns.

Yes I do agree that stealing is very wrong and they should be punished when they get caught but did you do anything about the lady stealing that yes sign that day you saw her do that?
