Republicans what do you think about 65 Nobel Laureates endorsing Obama and 0 endorsing McCain?

A group of 65 Nobel Laureates have gotten together to endorse Barack Obama for President. Their letter and the signatories are below. This is the largest number of Nobel Laureates to ever endorse a candidate for office.

In a copy made available to NAN in New York, the scientists wrote, “This year‘s presidential election is among the most significant in our nation‘s history.

“The country urgently needs a visionary leader who can ensure the future of our traditional strengths in science and technology and who can harness those strengths to address many of our greatest problems — energy, disease, climate change, security, and economic competitiveness.”

“We are convinced that Senator Barack Obama is such a leader, and we urge you to join us in supporting him,‘‘ they said.

Here is the letter of endorsement from 61 of them.

So here we have the most brilliant minds on earth supporting Obama. What do you have to say about that republicans?

Here is a bigger list of endorsements for each candidate (McCain's is pretty pathetic):

Update:

Judging by these responses I clearly see why they endorse the democratic ticket.

You people need to read go read a book.

Update 2:

haha oh wow, some of you are incredibly ignorant.

I love it. First there are the liars saying that more Nobel Laureates endorse McCain. Then there are the people saying they have no respect for anyone who has won a Nobel Prize. That is really saying something right there. Not only are you people ignorant of achievement and education, but you actually have disdain for people that have chosen to dedicate their lives to the education of others. You can thumbs down me all you want, but every single one of you know that if your candidate had won a Nobel Prize it would be the most fantastic achievement ever and validate their candidacy for President.

Your reasoning is oversimplistic. Brilliance in physics does not necessarily correlate with brilliance regarding economics or international relations. Most of these Nobel Laureates have seen a tremendous decrease in research funding during the Bush Administration, and are banking on Obama to increase their funding. Their endorsement has less to do with far-reaching political vision, and more to do with single-minded scientists wanting funding for their research.

Because they are socialists. Any pure and enlightened academic economists knows that the ideal and utopic society is one based on socialistic, even, communistic principles... But what most of those well intentioned intellectuals overlook is the reality between theory and practicality. Yes, socialism and communism are ideal, but individual greed and oversight will always cause systems based on that to collapse. Just look at our current economic crisis. "Affordable" housing was given to everyone and their brother... that's good! But the greedy financial institutions over-pillaged and over-plundered that social resource causing our economy to CRASH... that's BAD! Everyone yearns for a utopic society... Nobel Laureates endeavor is the noble pursuit of that ideal, but being academic... they often lose sight of practical reality and the variables that cannot be controlled.

Right now Joe Six Pack is asking "Is a Laureate that rope thing cowboys on tv use to catch cows?" The average Republican has shown time and again their disdain for higher education.

Please take a drink for everytime one of the responders include the word "elite" in their answer.

Well I could ask them what would their advice be on my financial future, or about fly fishing, and they could all have an opinion on that as well. However those questions lie outside of their respective field of expertise. I am in no way detracting from their brilliance within their field, however, you wouldn't ask a world renowned astrophysicist to perform brain surgery on you, despite his brilliance within his field, because brain surgery is outside of his field of expertise. I am not saying they are not allowed to have opinions on the matter or endorse a candidate. However just because they endorse someone, and they, "have the most brilliant minds on earth" doesn't mean that their opinion on this is any better than my opinion, as none of us are experts in the political science field.

I lost respect for the Nobel Prize Laureates when they awarded the prize to Al Gore.

Well... Al Gore won a Nobel, so I guess that answers that question!

How much cheaper can that award have been made?

"Most brilliant minds on earth" is a matter of opinion. I've said it once and I'll say it again...some of the most intelligent people in the world are the most terrible judges of character.
