Because Socialism is a scary word to MANY americans because they really have no conception of what it is .... and so .... the republicans .. .as per usual... are playing on the fears of ignorant citizens....

Now .. I'd like to make a suggestion to those intelligent YET UNSURE voters who are NOT sure re socialism...

do yourself a favour and do a little bit of INDEPENDENT research .. check out how Australia operates.. ( for example ).. now we're not perfect but we have safety nets to catch those who are unable to afford private health insurrance... IF YOU WANT PRIVATE health insurrance .. it is available ...

But PLEASE open your minds and try and find UNBIASED definitions of socialism ( by unbiased I mean NOT written by Anti-socialists or pro-socialists but rather somebody with a TOTALLY open mind)

Making people poorer to try and make people "richer" doesn't solve the problem of poverty. All it does is redistribute the poverty.

The only way to eliminate poverty is through education, not handing out freebees.

In truth, all the democrats want to do is create a permanent underclass who is forever reliant upon the government so the democrats can always remain in power.

Obama is going to raise taxes on everyone. The difference is, the people who are wealthier will not be able to deduct as much and will pay a higher percentage of taxes. McCain would rather continue our Reaganomics policy and keep his chronies in control.

Do you smoke? Drink? Have credit card debt? Spend frivolously? Have satellite TV? Kids have Wii's? You have a Wii? Car you could not afford? House you could not afford? Get manicures and pedicures? Buy yourself nice cloths? Kids nice cloths? Do you do drugs? Do you have a cell phone? Two? You obviously have a computer and internet. Were (are) they free? Do you take vacations you can not afford?

Basically.....When are people going to stop playing the victim and take some responsibility for themselves and the holes they dig?

FYI** We already have food stamps, child care allowances, medicare, medicaid, full assistance programs, job training programs, unemployment programs, prescription programs, fuel assistance programs, WIC, lunch programs, disability programs, etc...........what more do our "poor" need.
