This is true but it is also true that they have reduced package size and raised the price to.

Definitely - same price, smaller package. I'm thinking ice cream for one. Also bag of sugar is 4 lbs now, not 5 like it used to be.

When you do find a "giant economy size" of something, it often isn't. Sometimes it costs more per ounce or per piece than a smaller package.

This goes for other household items as well, not just food.

Fortunately the stores must post the per unit cost under the shelves, which helps a little - saves me time not to do all that math in my head or use a calculator at the grocery store.

Please there is no need to type in all caps. It's like yelling at us and that is rude.

Yes I have noticed this in a lot of cases, however they are also hit and hurt by rising costs and this is why. If we take a stand and don't buy that brand (store brand instead) it may help.

Also don't be afraid to call the 800 number and complain. The only way they see what we are happy and un happy about is theu sales and customer feedback. If everyone just buys those products and doesn't say any thing then those big compamies think they were sucsessful in thier little scheme.

Yep. 'Tis true! It is a way for them to cut costs and increase profits without having to raise prices, which is something most consumers are likely to notice. Buy a 12 oz. "brick" of ground coffee instead of a 16 oz. is a bit less "in your face" (and sneakier, IMO).
