Why are some so stuck on voting the "Party Line"?

Why aren't there more people that vote for the candidate or the issue? Why does it always have to be Democrat vs Republican? Both sides have positives/negatives and it shouldn't be so cut and dry.

Very good point. I vote Republican but for me to say they are the Bomb of everything would be a lie. In fact I am getting kinda tired of all politicians , they are never people that truly understand the plight of just the average American. I would rather have a government of more common folk like you and I.

I agree. I am an independent conservative who has been waiting for 8 years for an excuse to vote democrat. Sadly, the democrats have refused to nominate a qualified and moderate candidate to that position. Ironically enough, I think if Biden had won the nomination of the democratic party, I might have strongly considered voting for him. That is, before he decided to go off the deep end after joining camp Obama.

I am not a big fan of McCain, especially after he disappointed me with his pro-Bailout vote, but what choice do I have?

    I am voting for America.

    McCain is a Democrat.

    Obama is a Socialist Muslim.

Freedom isn't Free a lot of people in over the course of over 200 years have fought and died for that Freedom to have it recklessly voted away in an election by uniformed voters, to risk Capitalism for Socialism or even Communism.

Karl Marx believed that socialism represents the transition between capitalism and communism.

Barack Hussein Obama said in his book 'Audacity of Hope', “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction what better place for the Muslins to control our country, than in the office of the President of USA.”

May God protect the American People and the Free World from the Democrat Party and Barack Hussein Obama.

God Bless America with McCain don't God Damn America with Obama.

Because when I was serving in Central America in the early 1980's - the Democratic party placed partisan politics over the safety of the troops.

When I was serving in Iraq - the Democratic party placed partisan politics above the safety of the troops.

Before I ever vote for a Democrat again - they are going to have to redeem themselves and prove that their primary loyalty is to the nation - not their political party.

You are right and I don't know why. I can guess though: Maybe they are hypnotized, ignorant of voting procedure's or stupid about politics. I suppose there could be a hundred reasons and yet you are only asking for one simple why. Wished I had better news for you but keep up the progressing thinking and maybe someday enough Americans will get the hang of it and vote for those who will serve us best.

It's not. That's why the rosters of Independents is growing so much and why both parties have to woo these voters. Woo where did I come up with that one. Man I'm getting old. But I digress.

Seems to me that slowly but surely the major parties are fading away.

Because their parents told them to do so.

If the republicans ran Bozo the Clown against Obama, republicans will still vote for Bozo.

Well, it happened in 2000 and 2004. Bozo the Clown was selected in both elections.

It doesn't. I'd vote, for example, Joe Lieberman 10,000,000 times over before I'd vote for Obaama. They're both in the same party. No need to scratch my head over that one.

I think that they are so used to be lazy that do not take the time to think. They just let others do the thinking for themselves and be lead where they say, even though it is not going to be truth. but they hope this time it will be different...later on when it continues the same: the rich become richer, the poor continue poorer and when everything continues the same or worst they can always blame the foreigners...
