Which personality theory do you think offers the best explanation for how an individual's personality develops?

How does this theory explain the development of personality as a child grows and matures? I need some kind of direction where to find info or some kind of ideas.

    My favorites are Erikson and Maslow.

    Erikson because of empirical evidence and Maslow because it fits in my life.
