Obama won the popular AND electoral vote.

He won both the electoral (which is what counts) and the popular. Once a candidate recieves 270 electoral votes, it is over. Your vote counts up to a certain point...there could be cases, where it is much closer and it comes down to needing the votes of every state.

The first guy is right. What if this year we decided to pick the president by popular vote only? Then Obama would still have won. Usually the guy who wins the electoral vote is the guy who also won the popular vote....USUALLY.

If you have 11 apples and your friend takes some and tells you to see who has the majority of the apples once you count 6 on his side would you bother to count your side?

You can tell the popular vote before everysingle vote has come in.

Every vote doesn't have a Direct impact on the outcome. This was set up so that if a bunch of stupid Americans got together, they couldn't elect another stupid American. Not sure if that is necessarily fair or makes any sense but that's how it works.

That's just the way it is. Not to mention that he also won the popular vote.
