A good cage for 10+ Fully grown Male Rats? WITHOUT Breaking the bank!!!?

I'm trying to find a cage that is big enough for up to 10 adult male rats. (i have 6 rats, but i want them to have extra room).

I am trying to find a Cage with double doors, like on a ferret nation cage, but i dont want to spend more than $150.00 (not including shipping).

Here is the type of cage i am wanting to get (w/o breaking the bank!):

http://www.ferret.com/item/ferret-nation-habitat-m...

The cage i have now is nice, but it is difficult to clean. It always has been, but i've finally been able to save up enough for a decent cage. (simillar to a ferret nation cage, but ALOT cheaper!)

Here is the cage i have now:

http://www.petco.com/product/15487/Super-Pet-Multi...

I was wondering if there is a website out there that sells ferret nation style cages for cheap, or if you are selling a ferret nation cage (or simillar one) for cheap. (and are in the California Bay area).

Thank you for any help!

Update:

I have a ferret cage now, and my rats are all adult male rats (ie. they cant fit through 1 in bar space). And even if they could, i have them trained to NOT go through the bars.

Plus Ferret cages are the only cages Big enough for as many rats as i have, or more. Cages made 'for rats' are really only big enough for 1 rat. MAYBE 2. Which i find to be really annoying and STUPID.

Which is why i am going for ferret cages.

As for commercial cages, I would recommend http://www.martinscages.com/ . They are made specifically for rats with small bar spacing but are large cages and come in several sizes, plus they can be customized in several ways. They are very good quality and the prices are fairly decent.

If you are looking for a really cheap cage it is actually super easy to build your own! If you do a search for 'home-made rat cage' you can find a lot of links (unfortunately my own database is down at the moment or I'd post some links, all I can give you is the one I made myself: http://www.evergreenrattery.com/careguide/cagebuil... ). I have made some pretty large cages for around $30 and they can be built however you want.

    Good luck!

A rat needs a MINIMUM of 2 cubic feet per rat. So you need 20 cubic feet at least which is a huge huge cage and i don't know if one exists that big. That is like a cage that is 5 feet tall 2 feet wide and 2 feet deep but that's not even enough space for them, as I said that's a minimum. You need to either break the bank, severely, or you need to get rid of less rats.

Pet supplies "plus has them on sale right now for $170 over your budget but ferret nations are the BEST. The knockoffs are knockoffs for a reason. The cheaper one the cage dimensions are smaller and the top floor has a wire floor. Also all four doors don't open. It looks like it does but only 2 doors open.

You can get one here on sale for $156.35 (not including shipping)http://www.kennelvet.com/ferret-nation-habitat-625...

You can get one on e-bay for $149.95 (buy it now price shipping not included)http://cgi.ebay.com/Ferret-Nation-Two-Story-Animal...

I think I really helped you and have lead you ratties onto the luxury life of living in a FN. I have 3 ferrets in a ferrets nation and you will find it is the most wonderful cage in existence. :]]

    www.martinscages.com MIGHT have something.

Otherwise, check out the used stuff (craigslist, etc.)

Or hit up the yard sales/curbs to find used large furniture pieces and then be creative and get some stuff to make your own.

(Oh with Martins I have heard some people say that they will customize bar spacing or something-don't know for sure but if so you could look at the ferret cages and see if they will fix them. They are really nice cages.)

I highly recommend making your own.. they are much cheaper, and you can make them as elaborate as you want..

    http://www.dapper.com.au/grotto.htm

Watch for old dressers or cabinets that people put by the road...

The problem with the ferret cage is that most rats can easily fit through the bars..
