Do you know about this qualification to be president?

OK, calm down. I know that quite a few people still get fired up about the Obama "legal or not legal" issue. This isn't one of those questions.

Did you know that, if Obama had been born outside the US, it wouldn't be enough for his mom to have been a US citizen? His father needed to be either a US citizen or a US national that had lived at least one year in the US. BO the first (Obama's dad) was neither. But, with McCain's citizen parents, he could have been born anywhere, even Iran.

The question: does anyone know what the requirement is to go to school in Indonesia? I know that Indonesia is much more strict about non-citizen education than we are, but was BOII eligible for school in Indonesia simply because of his stepfather?

I'm not arguing the point that BOII is not eligible to be president, I just hope somebody can really clarify this curiosity question.

Then - to attend school in Indonesia - you HAD to be a citizen. He could be a citizen ONLY if his mother renounced his US citizenship AND his step father adopted him and/or acknowledged him. Then - DUAL citizenship WAS NOT allowed. THAT would have renounced his US citizenship EVEN id he was born in Hawaii. He would have had to come back and taken an oath of allegiance when 18 - which there is no record of OR he may have just slipped through since he was a child - leaving him an illegal alien. The fact that he could not have dual citizenship in indonesia to go to school is what factors in on this. He HAD to be a citizen and he DID go to school there.

Can I add that there is a huge difference in beign a "Natural Born Citizen" and a "Naturalized Citizen" just as there is a difference in a "Birth Certificate" and a "Certificate of Live Birth"

President MUST be a NATURAL Born citizen. Many children born out of the country whose parents are American natural born - are not natural born but are NATURALIZED

If you want to know the truth, I think they did a few tricky things while in Indonesia that have nothing to do with Obama renouncing his American citizenship. Obama used his step fathers last name but he was not adopted by him which is why he does not use it now. I know the official story is that he was sent back here because they didn't think he was getting the best education over there but it was good enough for his sister so why not him? When you renounce your citizenship, you have to turn over your passport. Because of that, he would not have been able to easily get back into this country to live with his grandparents if he didn't have US citizenship and passport. There is no evidence that he ever had an indonesian passport. I think they lied to the Indonesian government, got caught out and had to send him back because they couldn't afford private school.

If his mother is a US citizen, he is to. My daughter is american, born in Denmark.

I was only aware of there being a natural born citizen to be president, i did not think that the location of birth mattered.

I did know that but hadn't thought about it since it didn't apply to this election.

Anyone on here claiming to be an expert on Indonesian schools should be treated with a grain of salt...
