Detergent to get out cat pee smell?

My cat peed on a sweater, which is a pretty strong stink. What detergent do you recommend to get the smell out? I've already washed it once with just regular Tide and it still stinks.

Jugg, I have a chronic shirt-pisser myself at home, so I share your pain. (he has Kitty Down's Syndrome so I don't get too mad at him for it). There's a product I found at petco called Nature's Miracle, and it does an AMAZING job at getting that ammonia stink out of pretty much everything. I also like it because it's cheap, about $8 a bottle, and I use it as a regular floor cleaner as well (gets stains out of anything), and it's safe enough to use on clothing and upholstery. I swear by the stuff.

I have a cat that does this and the ONLY thing that works to get the smell out is an enzyme cleaner like Urine Gone. You can wash that sweater three or four times and may still get a vague smell of it without hte Urine Gone. I bought mine at Walgreens, but I think you can get it anywhere like that.

Biological washing liquid. The enzimes in it will get rid of the smell.
