which school would you choose!? Baruch or Cornell?

I'm an accounting major at a community college and looking to transfer in the Spring or fall 09. But I know this program through my school and its called pathway to success which helps transfer students from community college to Cornell University, but the deadline has passed for spring 09. Cornell will offer grants for tuition and room if needed. My concern is that Cornell is known for scientific field, business is definitely not its strongest. So back to Baruch, it is one of the top in NYC. I got into Baruch for spring 09. Should I try for Cornell or just go to Baruch? Which School would you go and why? Thanks.

i go to baruch, and let me tell you... Baruch's accounting program is ONE OF THE BEST!!! It is unbelievably advanced( and difficult...i couldnt handle it) one of the bonuses that you will get if you do go to baruch, is that we have a masters program that goes along with the bachelors( reducing the amount of classes you will need for the masters) you will get your masters in one year instead of two. in august of 2009, the CPA rules will change, you will not be able to be a CPA unless you get a masters degree, which you will get if you go to baruch without having to go to graduate school. this is one of the only schools that offer this type of program, and you would be smart to take advantage of it

also, baruch has the reputation that you want. all the major accounting companies know baruch and its students are the best, and if you do well, they will recruit you!!

To inform you the reality, personally, I might keep on with Baruch College, and to preserve my schooling there if I had been you. Baruch presents an entire scholarship, and plenty of research offers, and a pc laptop. Cornell is fine realize for its technological know-how majors, and I dont feel this is a well have compatibility for an Economics Major. If so, I might follow to NYU as an alternative, considering the fact that it has the Stern School of Business. I might simply conclude my honors university application at Baruch and get my HONORS degree upon commencement, and to switch at a graduate institution at NYU or an IVY league, and get an MBA in Economics. Also I am presently a prime institution Junior in New York and I am extensively interested within the Baruch Honors College. What style of SAT's and GPA did you could have in prime institution whilst you enrolled within the application, considering the fact that they just say admissions is aggressive, and I dont realize any person enrolled within the application at Baruch. Thanks and well success for your long run reports.

Prestige is not all its cracked out to be:

Even the notion that a prestige degree unlocks doors and leads to higher earnings has been challenged. A 1999 study by Alan B. Krueger of Princeton and Stacy Dale of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation found that students who were admitted to both selective and moderately selective colleges earned the same no matter which they attended. The study suggested that the motivation and drive of the student mattered more than the college.

Both Baruch and Cornell will give you an excellent education (although Cornell is known for science it is great in all areas) - I would choose the cheapest and use the money saved to get a Masters. You will be better off than with simply an undergrad degree from either.

    Thanks
