Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?

the fun is in the chase and catch... not the meal

I agree about people being the ones that the food is marketed for, and mouse flavor doesn't sound appealing to people.

But maybe on a more practical level, there is not much meat on a mouse, so they would have to breed, kill and process a lot of mice just to get a little bit of meat. that would produce a lot of waste (bones and fur), and it would take a lot more energy to produce. besides, we already are producing chicken and beef as livestock. it is probably just easier to use what we already have.

Seieously, and it would probably save food manufacterer's money cause mice would be cheaper than chicken!

Lynne is right though, people probably wouldn't buy it, as though they don't know thier cats will eat mice, and birds. Poeple think doing the healthy thing for theri pet means doing somehting unnatural, like putting vegetables in cat food. Since when do cats need garden greens? They don't, it just makes the owners feel better.

Because humans buy the food, not cats and mouse flavoured wouldn't appeal to most people. There has actually been market research done on this would you believe!

Good question! I agree with the others here. People wouldn't like it as much as cats. The answer is probably the same reason why they don't make dog treats that taste like cat poop.

Probably because no one wants to taste a mouse to see what the food should taste like, haha. We all know what fish & beef & chicken taste like.
