Is it considered poor taste to give wedding registry gifts for Christmas?

Two of my husband's cousins (siblings) are getting married next year (in June and September). I'm trying to decide if it's in poor taste to get the couples Christmas gifts off their wedding registries. Is this taboo? Should I be getting them something more personal and individual for Christmas? What would Emily Post say?

No that's a great idea! When my family asks me what I want for Christmas I tell them to go to my registry! Not in poor taste at all, and it may help if they have some essentials right now rather than waiting for the Wedding day or the shower!

Not At All . They Obviously Want Those Things & It Wouldn't Be Bad To Give Them Something Off That . Just Be Sure You Then Have That Item Taken Off Their Registry So They Don't Get It Again .

    Good Luck .

I don't see why not. Now, later, what is the difference? Especially if it is something they can use now over the holidays.

I would make sure though it is something less for a wedding and more for Xmas. Did they register for things like a popcorn popper, or an ice cream maker, or a toaster oven? Much better than the toaster someone else mentioned that they got and wondered why aunt whoever even thought that was cool.

Are you sure there is nothing else you can find? Gift baskets are really in right now, so are themed presents. Pick a subject, like a recipe, and buy everything you need for it. Like a loaf pan and a recipe for pumpkin bread and the spices that go in it. Or pick something fun to do, like make popcorn, and buy the popper, the corn, and the oil to go with it. If you need ideas, go to your local discount department store, lots of ideas now that their boxed gifts are out. I liked the Campbell's soup bowl pkg, and the sundae bowls one was cute too.

A big basket full of entertainment goodies might be welcome, box of candy, tins of nuts and candy. I'm sitting here with a tin of Almond Roca at my keyboard, that would make a nice gift if someone liked toffee.

One event has nothing to do with the other but if you're completely stumped for a Xmas gift & know they would enjoy something from their registry, then I guess that would be okay. As long as it's not a dual Xmas/Wedding gift. Of course you would purchase something separate for the wedding.

I remember that for my b-day before my wedding my grandma gave me a toaster, because it was from my registry. It was so incredibly weird. If you're at a complete loss for ideas, then go ahead and get them something from their registries. But before you do that, try to think of something else. Just my opinion.

If it were me getting married, I would love to have people start fulfilling my registry. In fact I would just be happy if people paid attention and understood why a registry is in place. LOL....I don't think its tacky, its safe so you know they could actually use what you are going to get them instead of getting something they might just return anyway.

I think that is perfectly acceptable. They registered for it, they want it and you want to give them a gift - why not get them exactly what they asked for?! Can't go wrong with that!

I'm not sure what Emily Post would say (oh to know the etiquette of everything!) but, I'm would highly doubt that your husband's cousins would even know who she was :)

As long as you don't cheap out ("This is your Christmas/Bridal shower gift"), I think it's fine. Just make sure you actually check it off of the registry so they don't get duplicates.

I don't think it's poor taste. Our family is planning to get us things off of our registries for Christmas and it doesn't bother me one bit! It is full of things I wanted/needed, afterall!

Please do!! I'm begging my mom to shop off mine for Christmas and she refuses. She's like, but I want to buy you stuff that you can use now, and your wedding presents not to be used until after the wedding. I'm like ... mom I could now, I could really use a fry pan! please! As a Christmas gift...she refuses. So I'll resort to getting flannel PJ pants that I always seem to get for Christmas -that my fiance always hates b/c they are so childish. LOL

    Hope my frustration helps you!
