What do you think about Islam?

I'm just trying to put together a general consensus.

It would be helpful if in your answer you put:

1. Your views on Islam

2. Your religion

2. Your political views.

3. The country you live in

4. The country you were born in

5. The country you've spent most of your life in

6. The country you've spent the last few years in

7. Whether you noticed there are two #2s

Update:

8. Your education

Update 2:

I've been reading over these and alot of the answers are very general. Can you please be more specific? Say why you feel that way towards the religion, rather than just saying "it is bad" or "it is good."

Update 3:

Update 4:

I was actually hoping to get answers from a broader range of people, but these are some pretty interesting results anyway. Thanks for answering, everyone.

    1. For those that say islam is very destructive, newsflash- ALL RELIGION IS VERY DESTRUCTIVE. theres a difference between institutions and the people that practice the religion of that particular institutions. Institutions as awhole are destructive, ie, all the killing that the catholic church has done in the past [THAT IS COMPLETE AND UTTER TRUTH IF I GET A THUMBS DOWN FOR THAT I WILLBE VER ANGRY CAUSE THE DESTRUCTIVE PAST OF CATHOLIC CHURCH IS A FAAAACCCTTT GET OVER IT]

but people that practice religion peacefully are cool, cause thats what is meant to be done in thefirst place.

    2. I was born a catholic, but I'm not sure i can identify with an institution that stated clearly inthe 10 commandments thou shall not kill but they did it anyway. I believe the world was created by a superior being but evolution helped it along. Is there a name for that?

    2. You don't need no razor or a 3 piece suit to argue the truth.

    1. HIjacked by a group of extremists; I've met some great Muslims (actually here) and they are saddened by the violence that has been done in the name of their religion. Of course, this can be often applied to extremists, period.

I think it's just a religion, but I do have some issues with it, namely because I was born in a Muslim family. I wish it allowed for full equality of the sexes and was in essence a 'progressive faith', rather than one that is so reactionary today. I wish the prayers weren't just in Arabic since I never understood it. I also wish they'd get rid of the current Salat form and allow for free worship; it's too formulaic and doesn't allow for a spiritual union with God. And most importantly, if God actually did exist, that'd be necessary.

    I'm no religion (an agnostic).

I'm moderate, but very progressive on social issues.

I live in the United States.

    I was born in Bangladesh.

I spent the past 19 years here in America.

And nope, just noticed that there are two #2s :)
