They did it here in the USA once, and we bought carpeting for our living room. If they do it again,we have a son who just got laid off & has a wife& 3 kids so would help him out.

Cash from Kevin as the news reporter on the ABC called it, will be spent on:

    * two new tyres for our brumbrum and

    * electrical work to fix the light and exhaust fan in the second bathroom. There has been a fault in the wiring for the past year and we haven't been able to afford to have it fixed. The kids have been showering during the day or by candle light.

I can't wait, we have been planning/getting quotes for the work ever since the economy stimulus package was first announced on the news.

I'm in the US & my state usually gives us a rebate every year, if we are low income renters/home owners. This year we didn't get it due to budgeting "issues". I was planning on buying myself a comfortable mattress with my 300. So, if I were to get 1400, I'd buy a mattress & a good pair of orthopedic shoes & hold onto the rest for a rainy day. Maybe I'd get a flat screen monitor that was BIG. That way I wouldn't need to keep it all up in my face, when I'm online!

I would invest in a older small car, have my brother fix whatever problems it may have (he of course w/check it before purchase) & I would be on the road again, whew!

Also I plan to get a list of older tenants here, where I live, who are ignored by family, friends & buy them various small gifts put together in a festive package for a little cheer. We are decorated to the hilt already, its wonderful, a few little gifts w/help.

    Spend wisely or hide well!

Lucky you living in Australia ($1400) and the US ($300), we got nothing from our government, or you must be..... disadvantaged. I do have a few debts outstanding and I might be able to go away for a few days. After 4 years of no holiday.

    Peace.

I would have to think about it.Go shopping? Spend it on Christmas would be nice for my family. Put it away until I can decide what to do? That would be best. I wonder if I could hide this from hubby? Naw, I can't keep my mouth shut. Fun question. XX Poppy

Unfortunately we do not get it as we do not meet the criteria but I know that my friends are paying off their credit cards and going to the Dentist. I do not know anyone who is going to spend it in the shops most are going to reduce their debt. Not sure if this is what our Government wanted but I am sure if we were entitled I would save it and see what the future holds.

Well I got a measily $300.00 earlier this year and I put it in the bank, because this money is tax payers cash and will need to be returned to them eventually! Therefore, I put my $300.00 in the bank as I know that I will have to report it on my 2008 Income Taxes!

Since I got the money for nothing, I would give half to the local centre for handicapped children,

and stock up on food with the rest.

    Hi,

I make that about £UK 620 this morning.

So although not an Australian pensioner, if the UK goverment gave me a cheque for that, I would blow it on Christmas presents for family.

    Cheer folks up a bit.
