Is the Christmas season a good time to repost a poem of an angel?
I sure hope so, because I did.
Angel on the Street
As I walked down the street today,
A young girl sat alone.
Her back contained a nasty hump.
She let out a low moan.
The passers-by ignored the girl,
Just like they could not see.
I walked on by just like the rest.
She turned and looked at me.
Forlorned she looked so sad and low,
I thought my heart would break.
I did not want to get involved,
I thought it a mistake.
But then I turned and walked right back,
I asked her come with me.
I took her to the coffee shop,
To have some lunch with me.
And as we ate her lips turned up,
Her sadness became smile.
I asked how long she'd sat out there,
"For just a little while".
So many people passed her by,
And gave it nary thought.
She did not seem to mind at all.
A lesson I was taught.
She'd waited there for me to come,
And care for her this way.
The others could not see her there.
That is the angel's way.
She took the blanket from her back,
She tugged at my heart strings.
There on her back it was no hump,
But perfect angel's wings.
She told me that she's here for me,
To guard me through my life.
She'll help with matters great and small,
That cause me to have strife.
So if you see your angel there,
She might be all in rags.
Remember you're the one she wants,
And angels wear no tags.

Christmas in this town is cold if you're lucky I tremble from frost and from glee, A man with an ax, in new Carhart slacks Puts steel to the trunk of a tree, And as he does chop he grumbles just a bit Cuz he's angry with his wife as of late, But the chill in the air like a mack truck does hit And makes him rethink his fate, The snow billows in and sticks to his chin His whiskers soon stiffen from the brisk winter wind The pine starts to wobble then falls just as quick He fastens a rope and gets a good grip He drags it back home and his kids smile wide As they stare out the window mom lets dad inside A strong and big man he grabs his wife's waist And wastes not a second in kissing her face She has a good man and he has a good wife For more than 10 years they've enjoyed married life But it's not about them as much as it is About those two cheerful and innocent kids We sometimes lose sight of the things that are right We forget to forget all the conflict and strife But not today baby lets try something new See this season through the eyes of those rosy cheeked two Who waited for hours by the window while dad Went out for a tree but returned a new man.

I remember this one. I loved it then as I love it now. Angels come in all guises. We had best look deeply into those for whom we feel contempt and see the soul within.
