What do I need to do to work as an EMT?

Hey I was just wondering what kind of classes are required to work as an EMT. I know there are the EMT basic and intermediate certification levels but what would be the bare minimum that I would need to do? Is it feasible that as a full time college student I could take these classes and work as an EMT for a summer job?

thanks for the help!

My friend just became an EMT - she only took 1 semester of courses, then she had to take a test to get certified/licensed. If you go to a community college, their program isn't too long and its not very expensive.

EMT's do NOT go to medical school. You can get your EMT fast.

    Good luck :)

Many Junior Colleges offer a two years course in EMT. That would be what I would suggest. A total of 60 hours college credit.
