Why is Matt Ryan talked about for MVP?

Are people so ready to crown someone off such crappy numbers. He has a Great running back that has more 16 touchdowns than he does. A WR. that had a good year last year with all those crappy QB's 83 catches and 1200 yards. Man people act like he is just going out there win games with his arm, and all he is doing is handing the ball off.

Update:

He's not leading the team he is just on it. They can win with same QB's from last year if they can run the ball like they have this year.

I haven't heard much talk about him being in the MVP hunt. I could see ROY possibly.

Because pro-qbs don't get paid to put up gaudy chest -thumping look-at-me numbers. They get paid to win ballgames and they do that by making good decisions , being fundamentally sound in all aspects of the game and executing the coach's game plan to best of their abilities

I personally have Matt Ryan listed #2 behind Chad Pennington who should but probably wont win MVP

it's called the most VALUABLE player award. not the best stats award. and ryan is as valuable as any player to his team. the falcons were supposed to suck for the next 3-5 years. who expected some rookie to lead the falcons to the playoffs in 1 year? a rookie for god sakes. ryan looks like a vet out there, granted he has michael turner, but still what ryan has done is nothing short of a miracle. will he win MVP? probably not, but he should be in the discussion at least. there arent many teams that were in as bad a shape as the falcons. they literally had no hope. not only did ryan lead them to the playoffs, but he earned the respect of every vick lover in atlanta, everyone in atlanta was just waiting for ryan to fail. and he earned the respect of his teammates. whats also impressive is this is mike smiths first year as a head coach.

Because he's been a huge part of his teams turnaround. No one expected them to win many games, let alone make the playoffs. It's not all about stats when you play QB. He's doing what he has to do to win games.

That being said, I don't think he should be MVP, but he should be at least be considered.

Dude they made Eli Manning SB MVP, all he did was watch the defense win the game for him and threw up a prayer that David Tyree ran up and caught with his helmet. Just goes to show you that anyone can be MVP.

He's a rookie and he turned around a terrible team, he is doing pretty good even with Turner carrying alot of the load as well. Stats aren't everything when it comes to MVP.

Because the QB position is overrated.

However, Matt has performed and should be in the discussion. But it doesn't have to be a QB.

I am a lifelong Cowboy hater, but I think DeMarcus Ware should be the MVP for the season. (I just threw up a little)

Seriously though, give it to Ware.

their just gay like that.....they tried to make it look like the falcons were in deep trouble until matt ryan came. all they really lost was vick, they ended up replacing the coach with a better one. the whole team is good i dont see why hes even mentioned for mvp.

I agree. I think that while he is doing well, someone else, like WR Eddie Royal for the Denver Broncos deserves it.

ok so they think matt ryan has done the most? how about flacco turning baltimores debacle, exscuse me, offense around this year? he's done pretty well for himself and the passing game hasn't been this good since the days of Testiverde or however you spell it.

because he is awesome and he led the falcons to the playoffs and they are 10-5 this year so far.
