Is it possible that human bodies can live to a 1000 years. ?

The early people in the Bible all lived for a very long time, some up to nearly a 1000 years.

Do you believe this was really possible that a body could exist in good health for that length of time? Don't organs have a limited life span? Can a heart really keep on beating for a 1000 years.

Or do you think these great ages mentioned are mistranslations or misinterpretations?

There is no evidence to suggest anyone has ever lived nearly as long as the claims in the bible.

It's only very recently that average ages have approached even a tenth of the ages of the early people in the bible.

If you accept the bible is true, then clearly god made it so could it happen. If you question the accuracy of the bible, clearly stating people lived to be over 900 a few thousand years ago is stretching credulity beyond breaking point.

If the bible says it, I believe it. The world has changed dramatically since that time and so have we as human beings. I believe that with God "all things are possible". I do not fully understand how it came to pass, however, I do not understand many things of God. I still believe that He is the Almighty and that the bible is His Holy Word. I do not think that God would allow His Word to be corrupted by any source, therefore, I do not think that the bible has been mistranslated or misinterpreted.

It is possible for the human body to last for 1000 years with medical modifications. However, there is no evidence of extremely long life times in the past, if anything, the evidence indicates that life expectancy has been increasing over the last 100,000 years as our nutritional and medical knowledge has increased.

The Bible is clearly not supported by the evidence on many of its claims.

Jill, I believe what the Bible tells me. Methuselah lived to be 969 years old. You have to remember, that in Bible times, we didn't have all the polution, and poisins that are found in our foods today. Look up Genesis 6:1 to see that God said man should live 120 years.

Human life expectancy was initially that great upon Gods original reception to man, but once man turned his back on God, God reset the age of man to 120 maximum. It is probable that the Atlanteans had life expectancies of 1,000 years or more

No. Logic says it can't. The human body is ultra-amazing in every aspect, but I'm pretty sure no human has ever lived to be 1000 years old.

Well, given that people look at it saying that it is impossible, so there is no God, I say that's the wrong way to look at it.

If there is a creator God who is the highest being in the world, then it is logical to conclude that He would be able to allow people to live to be 969 years old.

Aubrey de Grey thinks so, and God has nothing to do with what he is talking about.
