I want to get a tattoo on my lower stomach?
But, i am worried that one day if i ever decide to have children, when i am pregnant the tattoo will stretch and look bad after i have the kid. Should i not get the tattoo there because of stretching? Or do you think it will still look fine one day?

My wife has a butterfly tattoo on her lower stomach and right now she is nine months pregnant. The once little butterfly now looks like an eagle! =)

I have a tattoo on my lower stomach, centered above my pantie line. I had the same thoughts you are having now, however the meaning behind my tattoo works best with the placement on my stomach.
The way I see it, nothing in life is guaranteed. Who's to say that I will live to see tomorrow, or to the age where I am physically, emotionally, and financially ready to have children?
As someone mentioned earlier, I would rather not live my life today basing all my decisions on what "might" happen in the future. Besides, if I'm going to have a stretch mark-covered stomach after getting pregnant, then I'm going to have a stretch mark-covered stomach after getting pregnant, regardless of whether a tattoo is there or not! No tattoo can changed what is already genetically programmed to happen to my body during pregnancy.
Ultimately, it is up to you to decide whether or not the meaning behind the tattoo (as well as the placement) is strong enough for you to keep your original idea. If not, and you think the design would work out well in another location, you could always go with an area that is not generally affected by pregnancy and weight gain.

<--as you can see, I decided the tattoo would be worth it.
How easily your skin returns to it's normal shape is mainly genetic. [although of course the amount of weight you gain during pregnancy plays a big part as well]. Look at your mother. If your mom had trouble with stretch marks after pregnancy--you probably will too. No lotion or cream is going to change that. If she didn't--you're probably not going to. My point is--don't delude yourself into thinking you'll be one of the FEW exceptions where everything goes back to normal. It probably won't happen that way. The more realistic you can be with yourself, the more informed your decision.
I decided to go ahead and get my stomach tattooed because that's the place where I thought it would most logically and aesthetically fit, and I didn't want to sacrifice my happiness with the tattoo over the "what if's". I don't regret it. I might later--but I don't now. The tattoo itself has a lot of meaning to me--and whether it looks the same if/when I have kids or not--the period of my life that it represents is what's important.
If you can figure a place other than your stomach where you will like your tattoo just as much--go for it.

First, you need to look at your family history and see if your mom got stretch marks from having kids, or any women in your family. In my case, my Mom does have stretch marks , so I avoid stomach tattoos! Because I will get stretch marks when I have kids. ( unfortunately ) . I do however have a tattoo on my hip, and i dont think you can get stretch marks on the front of your hip...maybe im losing it but i dont recall ever seeing stretch marks on anyones hip. I think you should do what you want and if you want a stomach tattoo, do it. Im sure it will look adorable on you! And if you get stretch marks, eh who cares it will all be worth it for your future kin :D

yes they stretch. the million dollar question is will it look normal after you loose the baby weight? it all depends on everyone's body. if you develop stretch marks on the tattoo, it will more than likely look deformed. i personally have a daugher, and with a rigorous work out plan and a strict diet, i was able to loose all my baby weight. I also applied a lot of vitamin e oil so i wouldnt develop stretch marks, and i got lucky. my tattoos look fine, but like i stated before, this is my body, and not everyone reacts the same way. every body is different and there is no guarantee. if you are truly worried about it, i would suggest you pass on the location, and pick somewhere else.

I would maybe get it somewhere else! Because you don't want to waste money and time on a tattoo that over time with stretch out! So I would maybe try a different place! Good luck I Hope I helped! =]

my friend has a tattoo on her lower stomach and she did have a kid and she said she regrets getting it because her tat looks horriable now! but then again she got stretch marks anyway so its not like she can show her stomach... so no one is gunna see the tat. if ur not gunna get knocked up anytime soon.. get the tat and enjoy it. but WARNING: they do stretch and look kinda weird.

Don't get it there.
My boss had gotten a clover there... got pregnant, had a kid, now it looks like an ugly broccoli stalk.
That's about the only place I'm against getting a tattoo.

i think it will stretch; get it on your lower back, or somwhere like that, that wont stretch; my mom got a tattoo there, and when she had me, it streched; it looks pretty ugly now ha
good luck!

even if your stomach stretches while you are pregnant it will go back after you loose the weight
