The previous U.S government violated human rights (yes even terrorists have basic rights as humans) The Bush Administration's policy in Gitmo went against everything America represented and destroyed our credibility around the world.

Obama is making things right again. If you believe what went down in Gitmo was acceptable you are Not a true American

Because that place holds suspects for being AL Quada member or other terrorist groups WITHOUT any of them given any sort of trial . Also he supposibly signed an executive order to close down the detention facility and not the the whole naval base.

Almost every man in Gitmo has not had a trial let alone been told why they are there. So like someone said before he may be closing the actual prison, but the the actual criminals will be transported and the rest will be given a fair trial

I noticed a lot of clueless LIBTARDS think the silly, mongrel bastard is doing the right thing somehow...

Obama is as naive as a child and as informed as someone who's lived under a rock his whole life...

Read the following by Dick Morris: "The Obama presidency: Here comes socialism"...

um, does torture, pain, inhuman treatment of prisoners against the geneva convention, america on trial in an international court for war crimes and crimes against humanity ring a bell with you? If not, then I would have to agree. Why in the heck would anyone want to shut down such a nice, clean, well run warm and fuzzy place like guitanamo?..heck, I was going to vacation there next year. I heard the food is deliscous and the watersports are SO exiting!!...some sort of waterboarding they do there.

He's closing Gitmo...but did anyone say anything about actually releasing all the prisoners?? The ones that are still considered a threat I suppose would just be transported...

because the worst damage osama bin laden could do.. was kill a few thousand americans..

only we.. could do much much more severe damage.. by becoming what we are warring against.. terror.. a govt that kidnaps.. rapes.. tortures.. kidnaps and murders people without trial. remember innocent till proven guilty? .. remember human rights? .. remember the us constitution?

gitmo represents our deviation from the us constiution.. and freedom.. and everythign we were supposed to represent.. .. gitmo represents the dictatorships we have covertly installed around the world to loot those remote countrys..at the expense of their peoples.. we brought the terror and horror home.. we own it at last.. what we've always sponsored.. encouraged and endorsed in the name of (corporate profit) freedom in the past.

gitmo should be closed.. the rule of law should reign.. we should guard against becoming the enemy and not compromise our beliefs .. not compromise our right.. our greatness.. out of fear.. or anger.. or ignorance.

gitmo is a national shame.. of how this nation gave up its' morals. and half of this war.. has not even been directed against terrorists.. but our own citizens. thank god we stopped the slide into facism.. in time.

time now .. to close gitmo.. and make america great again.

I know of at least 7 familys that want those people who demanded the release of those prisoners..dead.

Espically after once released they blew up a market square full of people. Maybe they should sue those who lobbied for thier release.

Because the world will not take America human right under his administration serious if the Guatamo prison continues to be.

Nope, if he was nuts he would have no justification for doing it. He wants to improve the international image of the United States and give detainees additional rights. He's not nuts just arguable misguided, ill-informed and myopic. If he moves them onto US soil he will create more domestic terrorist targets. Since when did the US Constitution start applying to enemy combatants?

If you can equate what's going on at Guantanamo with the practices of the Nazi regime, you must be smoking crack. We might water-board or humiliate them in their underwear but they would decapitate us without a second thought. Innumerable American lives have already been saved from the intelligence gathered there. We're the good guys with a moral compass remember?
