I depends, Sarah. if it was a slight rupture, there's a good chance that it would heal on it's own. If it was a full perforation, you would probably need to have surgery. The problem with either is infection, which is extremely painful. I partially ruptured an eardrum scuba diving once and it healed on it's own, but it took a good 3 weeks before it felt completely normal again.

Barring infection, the only thing that could rupture both eardrums would be excessively loud noise, a sudden and extreme change of pressure, or someone poking something into the dog's ears (like a Q-tip). Sometimes experienced vets can tell what caused the condition by how the eardum looks and the way it ruptured...

Usually, a ruptured eardrum will repair itself with little or no hearing loss.

It depends on how it was ruptured. If it was due to infection behind the drum, it often repairs itself. A rupture due to trauma may need to be surgically corrected.

It has happened to me twice. The same ear and they say you do lose some hearing eventually but mine was just after it ruptured that I wasn't able to hear out of it. It's fine now.

It depends, depending on how ruptured it is, it will most likely recover, but if severely ruptured, you should see a doctor pronto.
