If a female cat mated while in heat, would she remain in heat,or would her cycle end shortly after mating?

My female cat (who I haven't had neutered yet) managed to get outside while in heat (I know, I know). I don't know if she "got lucky."

My question is this: if she did mate, would the fact she mated switch her heat off? Or, would she remain in that heat episode even if she mated?

My cat is still in heat, it was over three days ago in which she got out of the house. If she did mate, wouldn't she have snapped out of it since the deed was done? The idea she would remain in heat this long after her opportunity makes me think she didn't mate (and I hope not).

Sorry to repeat the question , I want to make sure you understand what I mean. Thanks very much in advance. Take care!

A female cat can mate with more than one male while she's in heat which is why litters where the cats allowed to roam often end up with kittens from different fathers.

Take her to the vet and get her spayed (females get spayed, by the way - they don't have testicles so they can't be neutered). If she's pregnant the litter can be aborted.

If you're a "right to lifer" and "don't want to kill kittens" well if this litter lives then you'll kill the same amount of cats or kittens at your local shelter. These kittens would end up taking homes that would have gone to the shelter cats.

Why on earth have you waited to get her spayed? She could have been spayed as early as EIGHT WEEKS OLD. If you "can't afford" to get her spayed then bring her to the nearest no-kill shelter so they can spay her and adopt her out to someone that CAN afford to care for her.

You already asked this question like a week ago. The color is undeterminable. PLEASE have an emergency spay done- that is the responsible thing to do here. You are an irresponsible owner that probably doesnt give a shat about the millions of cats that are euthanized every year. It is quite disgusting. P.S. Dont even try giving me the "I cant afford it." CRAP. You never bring a cat into your home unless you have the money to spay the cat BEFORE getting it. If you dont have the money right then and there, you just dont get it. "I aint gna soay her, dont go there" I believe that means that you are not going to spay her. It is hard t tell due to how poorly written your description is. If that is what it says, OH YEAH I WENT THERE.

The cat will continue to cycle.

She will mate as many times as possible during her heat.

This insures pregnancy and a larger litter.

There can be multiple fathers to a litter.

they are in heat for abit i think 3 weeks or something like that. when the last mate is done its 63 days from that date. also it can have many fathers also if you mate it with other cats to. just to let you know.

They remain in heat for a number of days and that's why they can mate many times with different males and have different marked kittens.I think you meant you hadn't had her spayed? but you still can- if she is in heat or pregnant she can still be spayed they just charge a little more.

She will stay in heat for the full course. She can have sex many times. Keep her in and just as soon as she gets out of heat, get her fixed.

Get your cat spayed now. neutering is for males by the way.
