Why does anyone support demons?

It seems that some Christians believe that pagans and witches use demons in the religion and spell work. The devil and demons are part of the Christian faith, and from what I can tell, none of the pagan faiths.

It is no secret that worship and belief allow power and access to the Immortals around us. So why would a Christian give such power to a demon by insisting that they play a part in my life?

I do not fear demons, nor offer to them. I do not seek to command these mysterious fallen angels, nor place them in any position of power. So how am I supporting them?

Update:

Val, I respect your views, but must you always be so bitter? Done is done, no amount of getting upset about it will change that. Move forward please. I don't mean to pick on you here, but I see the same bitterness in every answer you give. The victim thing was old years ago.

Update 2:

Newly, if you want me to read what you have written, cut is down a bit. A lot actually. If I want to know what the Bible says, I can look it up and read it myself. Thank you.

Update 3:

The Horned God, is not a representation of Lucifer. The image of the Horned God was used centuries after the Bible began. It was a way of making the old gods evil. The Horned God represents the young stag. In spring he grows his horns and cares for the herd, providing protection and fertility.

I followed your other link, I noticed a self made webpage, no references or credible sources. Apollo is the brother of Diana.

Luicifer, if I remember correctly, was a general in a god's army, not a god himself.

Well, in the Bible, there IS no in between. You're either for them, or against them. The writers were obviously ego-maniacs who apparently loved the thought of being chosen by their god to "save the world".

Everybody knows that you can't be a hero without an enemy, or enemies, so they took it upon themselves to fabricate some.

Christians, being raised on and fed this load of bull, are then led to believe it and follow in it's tracks as well. And many (not all) Christians do have an ego problem with the whole "holier-than-thou" complex.

I don't believe in demons, as that's not part of my belief system, and even if I did, I find it highly improbable that somebody could unconsciously worship something that they don't believe exists in the first place.

Some of these answers scare me, especially Hugo's.

Edit: Blah, I don't think that website is saying that Wiccans worship Lucifer, I study Wicca myself, and am quite certain that they don't even believe in him.

I believe that what that website is saying, and I have heard many people say this before and seen the proof myself, is that the stereotypical portrait of Satan with the horns and pitchfork, is derived from older gods.

Pan, the horned god, is often depicted with horns. However, he isn't an evil god. The trident was a symbol of another god too, but I forget who at the moment.

But when the Christianization era began, the Church tried to demonize Pagan gods and traditions in order to show that their religion was "good". They also took a lot of Pagan celebrations for themselves as well.

I have read the Bible, and went to a Catholic school for six years, and I have never come across anything that says that when Lucifer was cast out of Heaven that he magically grew horns or anything like that. Even most modern Christian literature and stuff has him depicted as still beautiful.

So in conclusion to your question, no, Wiccans do not worship ANY Christian deities, including Satan/Lucifer.

And as for your second link (angelfire) that website doesn't really look that valid to me, but then again I'm relatively new to Wicca. I don't really know about Italian gods, but I'm quite certain that Lucifer could not possibly be the brother of Diana, as Diana is from an entirely different pantheon.

I had to do some serious thinking (not). There are positive and negative forces in nature, one cannot exist without the other. Evil, on the other hand, is NOT of nature, it is purely of MAN.

Demons are simply the manifestation of evil in a persons life. Christians like to blame the devil or demons for everything that goes wrong, not wanting to take responsibility. And what better way than to blame their demons on pagans and witches! Placing their responsibility on someone else they feel absolved of the "sin" or whatever.

The horned god predates the bible by centuries. Depicting their Satan as having horns was just another Christian ploy to "demonize" pagan belief.

As has been said, we all have our personal "demons", those things we have problems dealing with, like drug addiction, alcoholism, eve disease. But demons are not actual beings!

Ok, I am a Christian & I actually have a question back to you. I have actually heard that a lot of Wiccans use Lucifer supposedly the horned God in their worship. Please look at this to verify it, thank you.

This is off a Wiccan site: http://www.wiccanweb.ca/modules.php?op=modload&nam...

I keep seeing where according to your tradition that Lucifer was Diana's brother & the God of light.

Listen, love...to some Christians, if you're not with them, you're against them....which means that every other religion supports or worships the Devil and/or demons. Don't take offense to these close-minded Christians.

The Christians festivals are all pagan. They do not have one festival that is pure christian. They stole our festivals, trashed our sacred circles, built ugly buildings on our holy sites, tortured us, stole from us, murdered us by burning alive, etc.....

And they have the cheek to call us devil worshipers. Got to hand it to the sneaky back-stabbing little devils.

It depends on what you see Demons as. If you view them as your own psychological downfalls, it may be dangerous to ignore them. Dangerous to deal with them yes, but even more dangerous to repress them.
