Does Bipartisanship mean that even if you know that the bill is bad and will fail you still sign and pass it?

because the other party wants you to?

This works for both sides... The Dems are as bad as the Repubs and vice versa. Regardless of the case, neither side is working together.

It does if your a Democrat who is trying to get unprecedented pork attached to a RECOVERY BILL to stimulate the economy.

Where oh where is the sanity in saying, "What, no bipartisanship?"

Put together a STIMULUS PACKAGE and not a pork bill loaded with expenditures designed to line the pockets of supporters, and you will get bipartisanship.

Demand bills with a SINGLE item and let each piece of legislation stand on its own merits. Stop the pork additions to garner support and votes.

    I know what you mean.

The dems talk about dropping party politics and working on both sides of the aisle but they only vote for democratic objectives right or wrong. It's almost like they are afraid of being seen as republican.

It's sad to see them attacking the Senator making the statement rather then the statements they are making or nitpicking it for factual errors just because he's a republican and not falling in line with the president. That's what I call tunnel vision.

They tell each other,"Obama wants this so we must all make what he says happen and not question it!" Are they robots?

Clinton is a financial genius . He showed bipartisanship when he worked with Newt Grinwich. They were a great combo. They balanced the budget together.

Obama is not as smart as Clinton in that area or he would not lean with Pelosi and her crew. He is not showing true bipartisanship.

Most Democrats that I talk to are against this stimulus package as it stands now.

Maybe we will get lucky and see more Republicans in the house in 2010 so both parties can work towards undoing the mess Pelosi's crew continues to get us into.

The republican's are banking on obama's failure to deliver lower back there occasion thats why they did no longer teach any bipartisanship, what did they think of he grew to become into going to grant them what bush could. it rather is supply a sprint take a sprint. because they needed the comprehensive pie they get decrease than what grew to become into presented. It grew to become into in no way in there activity to assist the country get out of the recession they think of that a unregulated unfastened marketplace will restoration this which it led to. they only care approximately winning the 2012 election. "Stench" if Obama grew to become into alive lower back then he could have been a slave.

That is Obama's version of bipartisanship: do what I say and don't disagree. he somehow thinks that his inflationary welfare-warfare/public works socialism is so perfect that no one should be allowed to disagree.

i can fix the economy: create a new gold-backed currency. the increased buying power of the american people will fix healthcare/energy costs long enough for us to get offf of foreign oil and the HMO's (and pay CASH for Care). Likewise, remove all punitive regulation & taxation on industry, and cut all taxes on companies that actually manufacture physical goods. likewise, i would put a tax on excessive credit, both for individuals and companies. the tax would only be for the next ten years, after which it will expire because it will no longer be necessary.

No. That is not what bipartisanship means. It means they try to work together.

I agree with you. Both sides need to work for what is best for America.

Bipartisanship is ignoring the effect at the extremes of the political spectrum, and passing public policy that is for the good of the nation. Very rare indeed.

Especially reading this site where there appears to be dearth of wingnuts that tighten to the right.

    No,

Bipartisanship means that you don't vote no just because the opposite party is in power.

Many Republicans are circling the wagons and won't budge until they get a Republican plan. That is not bipartisanship.

Listen, we had 8 years of Bush policies. We tried the Republican way of stimulus by means of tax cuts. It did not work. Let's try the Democrat way now.

At least Obama is reaching out to Republicans, that is 100 times more than Bush did.
