Should California legalize marijuana?
Assemblyman Tom Ammiano has introduced legislation to legalize marijuana, making it free for people to grow it, smoke it, posses for medical reasons, yet it will be taxed so they can reduce debt, or balance the state budget. What do you think of this?

Yes, marijuana should be legalized to help the state economy. I live in the Bay Area and i can easily name 10 people who are open about their Cannabis Club cards. Pot is up there with the highest grossing cash crop and i'm surprised that the government doesn't want in on the money already.
and "Redneck Rebel", California feeds your white trash *** and your children (who are also your nephews and nieces). We are in debt because we loan all the inferior states money and don't charge an exporting tax to those states. I know for a fact that YOUR state doesn't matter to the world, let alone the nation. We'd be more than happy to be our own nation, and guess what? California would be the 6th richest country in the world.

The first time the words "billion dollar crop" were ever used in the same phrase was in an article in Scientific American in the 1930's about California's hemp cultivation.
You won't get a lot of tax revenue from those growing for their head, but if we were to allow the large-scale cultivation of industrial hemp, we might even get some manufacturing on in this country again.

Legalize all drugs. With drugs more openly available we're bound to have a better society. All of those people that deal drugs will just have to go out and get an honest job and they'll pay taxes too.
Advertising will go up for new products like Heroin, Cocaine, etc. Just think of all the money that we'll gain and the jobs that we'll create.

already is you can grow 25 plants in 3 northern counties and 6 everywere else, feds can only bust so many. coffee shops sell in back rooms legal, pay state taxes, and fed too i think. alcohol and cigarettes are much more deadly. pot smokers don't smoke much a day compared to cigarettes. i smoked pot for 36 years before i quit for economic and piss test reasons, only smoked about a gram a day. f the law

It's a great idea, but the problem would be that it would still be illegal nationally. So even if California legalized it, Californians could still be arrested by the feds. It should be decriminalized on a national level.

Might just work. Personally, I am not in favor of legalization, unless laws are passed that only individuals may do the things you name above. Corporations will start adding chemicals, flavorants, addictive substances; and next thing you know, we will have a whole new class of terminal illnesses to fill up our hospitals, our morgues and our cemeteries.

I'm fine with it. We have to let 70% of our prison population out per the courts, and I can't think of a better place to start. However, they'll still have to watch out for the Feds.

Absolutely, then it will become a magnet, pulling the losers out of the rest of the country and concentrating them all in one place. Then we can all sit back and wait for the big one to hit.

I think Callyfornya should secede from the Union and take all the liberals and illegals with them. Then they can have their marijuana filled communist paradise.
