I love Ann Coulter's quote about Nancy Pelosi... the most liberal speaker of the house EVER!

"But as long as the nation is obsessed with historic milestones, is no one going to remark on what a great country it is where a mentally retarded woman can become speaker of the house?"

The lack of confidence started two years ago when the Congressional majority was taken over by Pelosi and Reid & thier ilk... Barney Frank. Jokes... all of them!

If you think the low confidence has just started, you would be wrong. The poll ratings for Congress was in the single digits about a year ago. G.W. Bush had hight poll numbers than the Congressional leadership did.

from 1945 to Reagan we were slowly whittling away at the deficit created from fighting WWII then Uncle Ronny shot it back up to mid-WWII levels and Bush Sr took it higher than ever. Of course Reagan would say that, he was one of he biggest reasons why government is the problem. But his term looked great and prosperous but short term solutions usually can do that. His policies weren't sustainable but they lasted long enough to let him bail and leave the impending collapse for Bush Sr. and Reagan's misguided actions is what cost Big Bush a second term. Then that hillbilly slick willy got in and pointed our deficit the right way again only to have our economy "Bushed" by wars that funneled money into contractors via "no bid military contracts".

Government isn't the problem; power hungry, corrupt politicians are.

Half of the 59% probably believe that the failure of government to regulate the banks is the problem, and the other half think they did too much. If 59% really agreed with Reagan's view of government, McCain would have won.

Government can be considered the bigger part of the problem. However, we-the people- are the government. We choose those to represent us and then sit on our hands when something is done or legislation is passed that we know little or nothing about. We are supposed to be the watch dogs of our government but do nothing except complain when something is passed that we do not approve of. Then we say GOVERNMENT IS THE PROBLEM! We elected the government so that makes it our problem as well.

Goverment is not the problem, it is the polaticians, lobbyists, and special interest groups that are the problem. A goverment system is simply a tool, it is how that tool is being used that is the problem.

For the above: I did not vote for you-know-who, and meither did 44% of others, so in actuality no, it is not my goverment, simply the goverment of the country I live in.

Absolutely I agree, yet the government in power right now does not care what we think and they are on a mission to expand government control to levels never seen before.

Reagan was an idiot who operated on index cards, used protectionism on our steel and auto industries so therefore he didn't feel government was the problem. He also quietly raised taxes while driving up record spending. And don't give me that tired old lie about him beating the USSR. Gorbachev was the one who set the dismantling of the Soviet Union in motion if you take the time to study history.

I think the fake American people pretending to be rich when they are not is the problem.

Bring on the thumbs down, Stalinists!
