10 Reasons why having a cat is better than a daughter. Agreed?

(1) doesn't ask for money all the time,

(2) never asks to drive the car,

(3) is much easier to train,

(4) doesn't have to buy the latest fashions,

(5) doesn't hang out with drug-using people,

(6) always shows up for meals,

(7) doesn't need a gazillion dollars for college,

(8) doesn't have a cell phone attached to her ear,

(9) I can have her boyfriend neutered,

(10) and if she does get pregnant, I can sell her children.

Update:

I don't have any children. I have a cat, female. Co-worker sent me this. He has sons and two cats. I think he's telling me what we're not missing. ;)

Don't know how far I would go re: #3. And #6 only if they are not allowed outside.

    Additional reasons:

It IS legal to put a cat on a leash or in a crate or kennel & you don't need to get a baby sitter while you got to work & leave your kitten home alone.

My kids are grown. I love them & I am very proud of how they turned out, even though lost my son in 2000. My cats will always keep me company.

Totally! I actually have a list of reasons not to have kids. This is just a different twist on it.

    But he did miss one.

    11. Cats don't talk. You might think this could be lumped under #8 but it's not so. Teenagers - except for the emo ones or those going through a "dark period" tend to be chatty. Or maybe they don't - what do I know? I think my point is they don't talk BACK.

And in case anyone's nose gets out of joint, my list is for ME. The reasons I don't want kids may only work for ME. I don't suggest that no one should have kids. Blah blah blah.

EDIT: I think some people are taking this too seriously. The fact that I don't have, don't want, and never did want human children has nothing to do with my love for cats. Each feeling exists in its own vacuum and exert no influence on the other. I have cats because I like them, not because I don't have kids. And I am childless because I don't like them - not because I prefer cats.. I don't have kids - period. I have cats - period.

I am a daughter and even though I love cats it would break my heart if my parents chose a cat over me.

    (1) I make my money.

    (2) I am scared to drive.

    (3) I respect my parents. They have authority over me, and I know it.

    (4) What? I never have, never will.

    (5) I am a kid, and my brother actually is hooked on smoking, and he drinks (he is an adult though). My sister accidentally took a drink of wine and hated it. I've smelled beer, etc. Eww!

    (6) I always do. Then again, I don't drive...

    (7) Um, boys need money for college too! Plus, boys have more job opportunities. Girls don't. Cats don't go to college.

    (8) My dad actually does. Cellphones are annoying, and the ones in my house are loud!

    (9) Wow.

    (10) Like it matters. It's her life! Though she shouldn't have a baby any younger than 18.

I can't believe you are comparing daughters (who will actually love you, if you raise them right) to cats (who will love you too, but daughters are human). Cats are animals, not human beings. They may have feelings, but they aren't as intellectual as people!

Sheesh, I can't believe all the girls out there actually care more about animals (which I adore) than their own parents loving them, or loving their daughter. What a messed up world we live in.

Dances with cats has some sense! (KLM too)

I have 15 cats and 1 daughter. I adore my cats BUT my daughter is the love of my life, she is my reason for living. If your daughter has all of those annoying habits, or is hanging around with druggies, and always demanding money, or constantly using the cell phone, then you only have yourself to blame. Maybe you should invest more time into building a relationship with your daughter instead of making her feel bad by saying that a cat is more important than her.

    Amen.

P.S. People don't be so serious. It was funny. Cats are great... they never argue or lie to you.
