Advice, 18 and first time pregnancy...Long story in advance. Sorry?

hey guys, im eighteen and this is my first time pregnancy. i just found out on sunday that im 6 weeks pregnant. Now, im usually the go to person when someone is pregnant but it seems that now that I'm the one thats pregnant it just doesnt seem real. Like for example I had all the symptoms, today I really dont feel any. Those headaches though, were a total pain so I'm glad I dont have that so bad and the fatigue, I've never slept so much in my life. LOL> I took a UCHECK pregnancy test, in fact i took two, one on sunday and then one on monday morning because I really couldn't believe that I was actually pregnant but they both said positive. Im wondering what should I do now? What should I be expecting, I'm really excited, what are the chances of me going to the doctor and them telling me that I'm not really pregnant? i thought about buying maybe a more expensive brand pregnancy test but figured its no use since they said these pregnancy tests are very reliable on the box and they detect 25mui. I'm just really excited guys I'm so sorry. Any advice and stories you have to share would be very helpful for now and throughout this pregnanct. Thank you so much. (PS, I might be doing this pregnancy alone and yes, I know its gonna be hard.) THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

Update:

The reason I'm so excited is because I was told that I COULDNT have kids.

Don't listen to the answer that said not to be excited just because you're 18. That is absolutely ridiculous. A baby is a baby, and it's something to celebrate! Congratulations! <3 I'm very glad you're happy. =)

I was 18 when I found out I was pregnant, too. I was very excited like you are! I'm even more excited now that my due date is 6 days away. I'm turning 19 in 4 days, so that's even more exciting. I love birthdays.

There is a low chance that the doctor will tell you that you really aren't pregnant. I was nervous about that as well. At my first prenatal appointment, I got an ultrasound that showed I was 6 weeks and some odd days pregnant. That's what made it real for me. I didn't have symptoms until I was 8 weeks, and I never got sore breasts. They were heavy rather than sore. I didn't experience a lot of nausea, either. I'd get it some days, and not on others. It only lasted for 4 weeks. The symptoms experienced (or lack thereof) is completely normal, and different for every woman.

Good luck to you! Those pregnancy tests were right - it's very rare to get a false positive. The only thing you need to worry about now: taking care of yourself and your baby.

Edit: If you ever have any questions or concerns, feel free to add me to your contacts. I'm always available to help!

Congrats to you no matter what the circumstances are. I dont think that you can get a false positive. Children are a blessing. I did it alone for 6 years and yes it wasn't easy but it can be done. ... Every pregnancy is different. If you feel like something is not right usually it isn't so don't be afraid to ask "stupid" questions. I say "stupid" cause that's how I felt my first time. I was very sick with my first child. The second one was a breeze didn't even feel pregnant besides the movement! :) and now I am again ( about 5-6 weeks)and no sign of too many symptoms. Sore boobies that's really it! Luck so far! :)

You can email me anytime I will talk :) again Congrats to you!

The tests are almost 100% accurate.usually 99. something. Yes you will be tired and morning or night sickness or all day sickness might be starting at anytime, usually at 8 weeks and subsides at 3 months. I would say get an appt at your local health department if you don't have insurance and if you do make an Drs appt ASAP. With my pregnancy my daughter was easier than my boys but everyone is different. Your hormones will be changing and your body so expect ups and downs. Drink alot of water so you don't get a bladder infection and try to eat foods high in iron and fiber.

If you are going to do it alone that is no biggy what so ever, Sometimes it can be for the best, if he doesn't want to be a Dad. You do what you feel is best and be a Good Mom that is all that matters. I hope all goes well with you and you take good care of yourself!! Wish you a good healthy pregnancy and a beautiful girl or boy or you might get lucky and have twins, lol. That would be something!!!

Well it's not likely to get a false positive. So I'm going to say it's safe for you to say you're pregnant. The next step would be to get to a doctor and get yourself and the baby checked out to make sure everything is going well there. After that you can check into WIC, they will help with certain food for right now while you are pregnant. They provide you with foods such as certain kinds of cheese, eggs, juice, milk, beans/peanut butter, certain cereals. Also, if you're thinking about breast feeding they can supply you with a breast pump and also they get you to come in for at least one class so they can be sure you know how to use it and such. Also, after the baby is born they can help you out with formula for the baby, if you decide breast feeding isn't for you. Also not sure if you have insurance or not, but if not you can get a medical card, from DHHR. Another thing since you're 18 and you said you will probably be raising the baby by yourself. You can get the father for child support, if he doesn't want to be apart of your child's life. Another thing, I strongly suggest that if you don't already have a job I would go out and get one right now. Because getting a job later through your pregnancy is going to be a lot harder. I had a nice steady job when I found out I was pregnant, things got slow and now I don't have as much work, which equals less money. And I can not find work any where because I am so far along in my pregnancy. By the way I am 19 and 29 weeks and 5 days along with my baby girl. Thank God for me my bf is still around and he also has a job or I would be seriously struggling for money. Let's see that's really all I can think of right now. But congrats on the pregnancy and good luck! Also, your going to love it when you can finally feel that little one moving around inside of your tummy. It's truly an amazing thing to experience! =]

I really dont think you need to buy another pregnancy test im sure you are lol! i would make an appointment to see the doctor where he will feel your womb and take your height blood pressure and weight, you know the normal things! Its so exciting i know! I would put off buying anything until 12 weeks because its supposed to be bad luck. at 12 weeks a brought a little pair of socks and that was it until i found out i was having a girl, because i didnt want to buy all boring neutral stuff!! The first little movement you probably wont feel until about 19 weeks or so if its your first but i think they feel a bit like twitchy nerves underneath the skin, thats what i thought they were at first, and my baby used to hiccup all the time. It so fun getting to know those little things! Aww well i hope its a really smooth pregnancy for you, and if you need to know anything or are worried at all come and post a question on here because people are really good with there answers, i did it all the time!! Good Luck CONGRATULATIONS!!!! XX

hiya congrats on your pregnancy first thing id like to say is that your definatley pregnant you could get a negative test and be pregnant but not a posertive one thats negative. im 21 and have got a 5 year old daughter i was 16 when i had her and did it all by my self so dont worry you will be ok. and now im haveing my second child whos dad ive been with over 2 years. i never felt pregnant with this child until i was about 6 months so nothing to worry about there. just give your doctors a ring and they will make you an appointment for a booking in visit and then they will give you an appointment for a scan for when your about 12 weeks to confirm how far you have gone. well hope everything goes well for you xx

I would call your ob right away to get your appt. I felt the exact same way when I first found out, I took one test that said positive and i was so excited but I was scared that when I finally went to the doctor they were going to tell me I wasn't pregnant so I know how you feel but to make you feel a little better it is VERY rare to get a false positive. So if its positive then you are pregnant. Good luck and congrats.

aaawwww congrats your gonna be a mama! lol. But anyways okay the first thing you need to do since you are pregnant is to go take prenatal vitamins. Taking them early on in pregnancy will help to prevent birth defects in your baby and it'll be much better because h/she will be getting the nutrition they need. Go apply for medicaid if you dont got insurance cause trust me when you're pregnant with all those appointments the bills are pricey. Good luck!

  • First congratulations on your pregnancy. I am 31 weeks with my first. It is a very exciting but scary time so just be prepared for the emotional roller coaster will probably be on lol. You want to make a DR. appointment have them confirm your pregnancy and make sure you and baby are doing well. The headaches at first are really hard to deal with and I felt like all I did was work and sleep (actually that's all I did lol).
