Half sister stole my baby name?

Ok i have had the name Kylee for my first girl picked out for like 8 years. Well my older half sister who lives in another state, who i dont see very ofter, who was supposta name her baby girl kaylee named her baby kylee at the last moment. I have been so sad because i have always loved that name but i do kinda feel awkward if i would name my child the same thing. I also like the name Keylee and other unique names not used often. I dont know what to do would it be okay maybe to change the way i spell the name. IDK we share the same dad, but he has never even seen my niece.

Well since she had her baby first, she has squats on the name.. Are you even Preggo???? I picked out many names and they have been used My nephew, My cousins, my Niece... But they all had children before me, and so I lost them.. Look at it this way, you baby will have the name it is meant to have... But Nooo, don't give the baby the same name or a similar name. Especially for a first name.. Middle name, MAYBE... But i'd just be original and think of a completely new one and Not tell a soul about the name.............. Be happy for her, you must have impressed her with such a Beautiful name...

I hate to say it, but you can't put "dibs" on a name. Especially if you aren't even pregnant. I know how you feel though. My sister just had a baby and named her after our grandma. I was so bummed because I was planning on doing that if I ever have a girl. My sister didn't do it on purpose. I'll just have to get over it. IF I have another child, and if it's a girl, I'll just figure something else out.

I think it's ok for you to pick a name similar to Kylee, since she lives far away and you don't see each other often.

By the way, Kylie was the name I picked if my son would have been a girl! :)

If you have your heart set on the name Kylee and had it set on that for 8 years, name your baby that.

First off, she's your half sister and from the way it sounds you don't see her often and she lives in another state, so it's not like the babies would be around each other everyday and confusing everyone.

    I'd go for it.

Make the name a little different. I was going to call my baby Kerry but then a relative called her baby that, the week before mine was born. I called my daughter Kerrin which is much more original and everyone likes it.

You can always give it a different spelling eg Kylie and as you live in different States, it won't really matter.

    1. Kylee, Kaylee, etc etc are NOT unique.

    2. the name she was "supposta" use was nearly the same anyway

    3. because of the way you choose to spell and the names you have picked out, you sound too young to have kids anyway. Meaning, there should be plenty of time to pick a new name, that the DAD can help you with.

I have the same name as a cousin of mine. It's not really weird. When we would get together for family stuff like once every couple years they would call him Trace and me Tracy.

did she know that was what you were planning? i had always only liked the names brandon and tyler for a boy, had never said anything to my sis about it though and guess what she named my nephew? brandon tyler...LOL; both of them gone in one shot! when i told her she couldn't believe it....

Don't let that stop you from naming your baby what you want.

  • i would use the name i had my heart set on.
